Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah, Doom has fought most of the Marvel universe and while RICHARDS!!!!! is his arch-enemy, he is generally a Marvel universe wide Big Bad instead of just obsessing over Reed and the Fantastic 4.
You know like Norman over Spidey. Hell the moment Norman decided to play for the big leagues he graduated to Avengers level threat.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Slott's Spider-Man ends of the earth arc briefly promoted the Sinister Six to an Avengers level threat, albeit with a lot of prep time.
But honestly it makes sense for them to be that level. Not necessarily when the Avengers have a stacked deck of the most powerful people but your more typical roster that has a mix.
Hell, if fucking Grim Reaper can solo an Avengers team, the Sinister Six should be able to put up a fight.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWhat's interesting about Doom is that he only ever becomes a top tier threat by exploiting the powers of other beings. Whether it's stealing power from the Beyonder or the Silver Surfer, using Purple Man to mind control the world, using the Molecule Man to establish himself as the god of a new universe...
Doom's basically a parasite.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI still want a comic where Spider-Man fights Magneto. We've been shown multiple times that Spider-Man can solo an X-Men team. Fighting Magneto is the natural extension of that.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.![]()
Sometimes all you need to get on top is manipulating and stealing the abilities of others.
Like a true Magnificent Bastard.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."They fought in Acts of Vengeance but with a couple of caveats.
◊
The biggest of which is that Spider-Man was Captain Universe at the time. But also Magneto was just testing to see if Spider-Man was a mutant and when he became convinced he wasn't, he just fucked off.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt wouldn’t be off to a great start once Magneto yoinked his webshooters no

Forever liveblogging the AvengersAfter watching Falcon & The Winter Soldier I had a certain feeling that Europe is treated mostly like a playground for the American "heroes". And after the scene at the end of episode 4, it isn't addressed that someone who not only wears the American banner, but was explicitely chosen by the American government and military may represent something when committing such an act in other countries, was it?

I figure Avengers like Sam have gone back to their gray-area status they had before Civil War. With Tony and Vision dead and Rhodey formally defecting in the beginning of Endgame, there literally isn't a single Avenger left on Ross's side. Trying to arrest them is demonstrably more trouble than it's worth.
This whole Sokovia Accords thing ran its course, and it just didn't work out because the Avengers don't want to play ball like that. It's hard to get people with power to voluntarily relinquish their power. The fatal flaw in the Accords was simply the fact that it required the Avengers to willingly give up their autonomy, and if they don't want to, there's nothing anyone can do about it. Without Ross having his own set of Avengers, the Accords are unenforceable.
In TFATWS, we see that Sam works as a government contractor. He readily flies missions for the United States Air Force, though his contractor status means he can accept or reject work requests on a case by case basis, and he can still do his own thing when he sees fit. That's a compromise that the government may be reluctant to screw up by arresting him for Avenging.

Which I really think is being set up for the future, particularly in Falcon and the Winter Soldier with Zemo and US Agent both working with the same shady government organization, as well as Abomination apparently having a (probably minor) role in Shang-Chi.
Either Thunderbolts or Dark Avengers, or both, or one with the name of the other. Hoping it'll be the subject of the next big Avengers movie.

Doom is probably helped by being possibly Marvel's most popular villain. Hence why he appears so much
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."
