Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I don’t think there’s a problem with Spidey being a Tony fanboy in IW. He didn’t stop being one at the end of Homecoming.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, that's just him saying orders.
It'll be quippy if he did it mid-battle when Steve loses a shield or something like that
Prettiest Meta Knight Gijinka, nglI mean it is a bad line to me. I remember him making more quips. I am probably misremembering. I still stand by him being underutilized.
Though again I was not complaining.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadI am a bit confused. When did I complain about quipping all together? I just said that I didn't like one line.
My one complaint was him being underutilized.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadOkay I did say I was misremembering there. But again I am a bit confused where people are thinking I was complaining about quipping.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadOh okay. My bad. My apologies.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadThe most I can think BP ever actually quipped is probably "I don't care", which... isn't really a quip.
It's nowhere near something like Thor suddenly being incredibly quippy when he wasn't before in Ragnarok.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonI think people tend to mistakenly refer to any line of dialogue that's meant to be funny as "quippy". Strictly speaking, it's only a quip is deliberately making a quick joke. If the character's trying to be serious, then it's not a quip, even if the audience finds it funny.
For example, Thor seeing the Hulk in Ragnarok and going, "YES!! I know him! He's a friend from work!" Thor's not making a quip there, he's just genuinely delighted to run into a super-friend in this inhospitable environment.
Some new Ms. Marvel set photos.
Gotta say, the costume looks great!

I should note I wasn't really complaining. Just sort of saying that separate directors and writers will approach the characters differently.
