Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Namor has had a few humorous moments in the comics, such as that one time the National Guard confronted him when he visited NYC. He had to clarify that he was not invading the surface, he just wanted to buy some bagels (can't exactly make baked goods underwater after all).
Disgusted, but not surprised![]()
There was also one time Namor sealed a treaty with a kingdom of crab people by having sex with their queen. Hope had accompanied him on this trip and was grossed out, with Namor chiding her for not being able to look past traditional beauty standards.
Hope then flirted with him, only for Namor to immediately reject her because she's under-age. He also made a joke about not like redheads (though note that one of his past love interests and late wife was a redhead).
Disgusted, but not surprisedThe funny thing is that while Deadpool being a wacky asshole makes him more amusing for the audience than Namor is, it also makes him much less likeable in-universe. Sure, Namor's a jerk, but he's a jerk that Marvel's heroes can usually understand and reason with most of the time. Wade otoh is too unstable and thus too hard for them to predict and understand.

Ultimate Namor wasn't even the king of Atlantis. He was a criminal who was locked up in a prison before the Ultimate Fantastic Four unwittingly released him.

Yes. During War of the Realms, Deadpool accidentally led a bunch of fire-breathing sharks from Muspelheim to Atlantis. Namor was not pleased. He outright called Wade a "jabbering moron", which isn't an unwarranted insult given the circumstances.

Disgusted, but not surprisedYeah, but Deadpool didn't do that for Wakanda. He just did it because he was an idiot who didn't think things through.
Namor also wasn't impressed when Carol Danvers tried to convince him to join them in the war. He pointed out how asinine it was to try to leverage Deadpool bringing an invasion to his home into an alliance.
Disgusted, but not surprisedDon't forget the tiny little wings on his ankles. They flutter like a hummingbird while he looks down on you and delivers a VERY SERIOUS SPEECH about why you're lower than pondscum.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
