Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Late to the party, but the comics have an answer for why the Eternals aren't more involved with problems on Earth.
In the past they did interact with the rest of humanity and aided them, and even came to be worshipped as gods.
Except in the Marvel comics verse there are actual gods, and they were not happy about the Eternals pretending to be gods. Especially since the Eternals were appropriating their identities.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThe recent comics run's answer for who the Eternals are and what they've been doing is a literal shrug.
I recall Thena got in a fight with the actual Goddess Athena during The Incredible Hercules over that very point (the Eternals being mistaken for gods).
Along with them mistaking Herc for one of them somehow.
One Strip! One Strip!I am very interested as to what the actual conflict is here.
Cause yeah the teaser trailer introduced us but it didn't explain too much. We know the Eternals are a group of deity like beings who have hidden and lived on Earth since time immemorial.
But what's the problem? What exactly is gonna happen that is gonna disrupt the idyllic lifestyle these people have maintained for thousands of years? Cause presumably the dinner scene at the end of the trailer takes place at the beginning of the film, then that showcases what life is like for them, they live pretty fun and appear close. What event or action is gonna irreparably destroy the life these people have made?
What lucky guy or gal is gonna be the villain and be our harbinger of change?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It appears that atleast according the wiki that the character of Druig, played by Barry Keoghan, will the villian/antagonist. Not sure how accurate it is.

Cupcakes are coming, Darling!!Yeah, if there's a Eternal who wants power for themselves, it's Druig. He was the main antagonist during Gaiman's run.
Then there's Sprite. Although not a straight up villain during Gaiman's take, he does orchestrate a series of events that affect the rest of the Eternals and benefited Druig in order to make himself mortal.

I love that scene. It is one of the best in that film series.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadOriginally, Fox did want to do an X-Men Origins: Magneto movie, but after Wolverine shat the bed, they had to restructure the film into First Class.
Which I'm not knocking at all. First Class is honestly one of the best of the X-Men films. I just wouldn't be surprised if that scene was lifted straight from the Magneto script and placed into First Class almost word-for-word.
Do we know when Eternals is set? Because I could easily see Thanos and the Snap being what causes them to sit up and start taking action again. Maybe they'll start in the background, and they still won't interfere in minor things like the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but they're going to be involved in world-threatening events instead of just leaving it to the mortals.
This would work whether or not they were personally affected by the Snap. In fact, it might make them look better if they were immune to the effect, but still realized they needed to be involved.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.Which could be within a week. It's clearly not like, five years later.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff. This is why, despite the hatred of the Disney monopoly,I want them to buy the rights to the other two Hercules so that they can just do a Hercules reference Bonanza.
Hercules, A hero of song and story.
Possessing a strength only matched by the power of his heart.
So hot, he made steam look cool.
This shit writes itself.
One Strip! One Strip! He DOES show up in the Rick Riordan-verse, and they’re developing a show about that
Eternals will Retcon the Asgardians into Eternals, because the Eternals were the One Myth to Explain Them All when they were out of continuity, Zeus is also an Eternal.

Sersi has been part of the Avengers. She was probably the most known Eternal before now.
