Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I don't know if by DILP they meant the people who are broadly sympathetic towards Magneto's views. Like how there is a genuine Karli Morgenthau fandom that points out she is right but the writing casts her as a violent terrorist so the resulting work is rather centrist.

So, if one was to watch the MCU films in chronological order (As in, the order the events in the MCU happened in, as opposed to which ones came out first), should they start with Captain America: The First Avenger or Captain Marvel? After all, First Avenger does end in 2011, while all of Captain Marvel (ignoring the mid-credits scene) takes place in 1995.
I believe my brother was just doing that. He started with First Avenger. No matter where it ends, it starts during WWII, so it goes first.
Besides Captain Marvel technically ends 2019 if you count the stinger.
One Strip! One Strip!Basically this.
Like, if you're the kind of leftist who believes Killmonger and Karli were 100% justified then not only do you most likely think the same for Magneto but there's no way you can stomach Xavier's mission of achieving acceptance through promoted heroism and protecting the system from violence until it allows them to become integrated. But even if you're not Magneto being a Holocaust survivor instantly earns him a shit-ton of sympathy and that combined with Evil Is Cool and Xavier not being lily-white himself makes it really easy to see Magneto as an Anti-Hero at worst.
Yeah but then you'll be going "who is Thor?" Same logic as First Avenger, Distant Prologue and Distant Epilogue of an individual movie barely count when discussing 'chronological watching order'.

More than half of every sci-fi or fantasy blockbuster begins with a 5 minute Distant Prologue that just exists to give backstory to a character, setting, or MacGuffin, so it shouldn't be counted as the story's whole time period.
A true chronological watch of the MCU would be interesting, completely ruin the context for anyone coming in new and would require jumping between different things after short clips some of the times.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThere is this almost 3 hour summary of every event in the MCU (as of Black Panther's release) in chronological order. Even includes the shows and comics.
I recall coming across a video that actually was every scene in the MCU in chronological order (sped up 1000 times) but I can't find it now.

Tony Goldmark figured it out in a fit of boredom once.

Xavier's shadiness and morally questionable decisions have been heavily scrutinized by a lot of fans who are all too happy to turn a blind eye towards Magneto's numerous moral event horizons. It's gotten to the point that fans actually champion the X-men's new, more extremist stance as Xavier finally "waking up". Also, a lot of X-Men fans like using the term "flatscan" to describe humans unironically.
I have a question. Did Carol have a canon love interest in the Captain Marvel movie? It's been a while since I saw it, and I don't remember her having one. I remember being impressed by the fact that she didn't.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadFrom what I've seen around it's looking like 45 is the new theatrical window straight-up. The pandemic forced such a heavy adoption of streaming that four of the Big Five now have their own streaming platforms. It's just better business to put it online faster to bolster subscriptions.
Script-wise, no.
But seriously, Marvel, tell me there was nothing going on between her and Maria when they were taking pictures like this
◊.

Does he? I have never seen this. Usually, most fans who Draco in Leather Pants Magneto are shippers in my experience. Who love Xavier as much as Magneto. Then again I have never been that deep in the comics fandom and was more in the cartoons and movies ones. So I could be wrong.
