Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Clones would be something that like the whole time travel issue would need to be handled very carefully - once you've introduced the concept it needs very tight and definite rules/management (both in the story and from a meta perspective) otherwise it gets messy very quickly.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."What do you guys think is the best MCU movie? For my money it's the Winter Soldier. Though the first Ironman and Guardians vol 2 are up there.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadThe Unfortunate Implications of a black actor being cloned from a white guy are blaringly obvious so that’s out.
But Doom though...
TWS is the best IMO, and its political messaging has aged like a fine wine.
Random thought but how you think an adaptation of the Clone Saga could be handled, especially with bringing in Ben and Kaine?
That's been my theory for all the rumors of them bringing in Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, I've just been too scared to suggest it, what with everyone and their mother losing their minds over the Multiverse.
I think any adaptation of the Clone Saga should limit the number of clones
Since the idea wouldn’t be to set up Ben as a younger hipper Peter because of a recent dork age and there wouldn’t need to be the extended takeout where Ben is Totally the real one and replaces Peter, Ben and Kaine’s roles can be smooshed together
Or just base it more on the less infamous first Clone Saga
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn the comics the Jackal should just clone new ones and send them out occasionally just to be a dick to Peter
Forever liveblogging the AvengersPart of what made the Clone Saga infamous was that it took up two years of Spider-Man's books because the marketing executives wanted the writers to stretch out the story.
That doesn't sound too bad, until you realize there were about four Spider-Man series running at the same time. So, at about four issues per month, that's about 96 issues of telling the same story, not including one-shots, annuals, related mini-series, and what have you.
The 90's animated show touched upon doing the Clone Saga even if it ended before it could really start, though it did happen in an Alternate Universe. A 30 second summary of the rough events by Ben O'Reilly / Scarlet Spider in the Grand Finale made for an interesting identity crisis concept. As mentioned, the Clone Saga was like a 6 month idea stretched out over several years. Any adaptation would condense the twists upon twists into something less absurd.
Comics are just words and pictures. You can do anything with words and pictures.Like reading the whole thing today makes it not seem totally awful baring stuff like maximum clonage but we miss the context. The delays , the insane back and forth in how they were going to end, the plot twistd and Arc Fatigue.
The whole thing made it an unbearable event when most adaptations gave been decently received due to not having those issues

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."So there's a chance that Eternals and Shang-Chi might get banned in China.
It's not 100% confirmed, but the fact that they're currently out of their list means Chinese officials might have problems with them. Eternals is more likely to get banned, due to Zhao's criticism of the government, while Shang-Chi is likely seen as very stereotypical, with The Mandarin in particular seen as a Yellow Peril caricature.
I now want these movies to gross over a billion dollars to finally prove that you don't need to appeal to the Chinese government to make a shitload of money.
Odds are good that executives will argue "but we've could've made more if we did", but damn, I want some progress here.
