Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Ghost Rider is effectively a Fad Super for biker gangs, because as it turns out motorcycles + horror = All Bikers Are Hells Angels, so it makes stupid amounts of sense for a Ghost Rider to be a Badass Biker. It helps that when it comes to motored vehicles that it's significantly more wieldy than a full-on car or something.
That said Robbie makes the literal hot rod look damn good, and it's only fitting that he's a bit more experimental with his rides.
Instead of doing that, Robbie just hits people with the car.
Or goes hood surfing to do it. He has options.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt's not like the motorcycle is going to stop being the iconic Ghost Rider vehicle any time soon, so I don't see the problem with one riding a car to shake things up a bit. IMO, it works pretty well... Agents of Shield really did a good job giving it a badass aura just like the bikes.
And just to get some last ideas out of the way: Ghost Rider in a Delorean, a Volkswagen, and a smart car.
Think he'd be more of a Speed Demon then.
◊
Also I figure a lot of the perceived awkwardness of Robbie's car would dissipate if he car-surfed on it more with the car driving itself. I actually like to imagine him "phasing" through it rather than having to literally open the door to sit in the driver's seat, lol.
I'm now reminded of this really dumb moment in the current Avengers run where Moon Knight power jacked from a bunch of heroes, including Ghost Rider.
He did so by stealing Robbie's car...... Yeah thats it, he just drove off with Robbie's car somehow and this granted him the powers of the Ghost Rider.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."It’s been established that the car is a dick
Also Khonshu is a dick and those power stealing ankhs are incredibly unbalanced
Which if anything made it funnier when Black Panther just started pulling stuff out of his ass right back and claimed the ankhs liked him better
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThat still doesn't make any sense. The Ghost Rider's power comes from the spirit possessing the host. Their vehicles are merely objects they personally enhance as instruments of their power.
It would have made more sense if Moon Knight just sucked out Morrow's soul out of Robbie's body. Eli Morrow is the source of Robbie being the Ghost Rider, same way Zarathos is what empowers Blaze and the other Riders.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."And yet when they tried to remove the ghost rider powers from Robbie, they tried to exorcise the car
Which didn’t work and led to a whole thing so maybe they should have tried ankhs instead
Honestly though, the moon knight arc made zero sense except on a rule of cool level. It had Moon Knight beat Iron Fist by spamming the same punch over and over. It had Moon knight summon Phoenix by beating himself up. It had Moon Knight declare apropos of nothing that Mjolnir is made of moon rocks and that means he can control it. New York is completely redecorated in faux Egyptian decoration and then undecorated by the end of the story. It was an arc of Moon Knight playing the “nuh uh” card in a sandbox fight and that’s why Black Panther doing it better is what helped resolve the plot
All of that aside we also see he had the ghost rider power in one of the ankhs and we don’t see the actual theft so it’s not unbelievable he just jacked the power and then car when Robbie was sleeping

x2 I haven't read all of his appearances, but I'm pretty sure he's mostly a Badass Normal with some mystical artifacts at his disposal.

I think he’s generally Marvel Batman but in white and with multiple personalities
This arc was just weird because the god he always talks to decided to take over the world, for the greater good
Divine intervention explains a lot of the shit that happens, up to a point

Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt helps that when Moon Knight controlled Mjolnir he was doing so while on the Moon where his power would naturally be at its peak.
Oh, and while the Ghost Rider gag is played out, I just wanted to add my take:
Ghost Rider riding another Ghost Rider.

Disgusted, but not surprised

I just said that it's fun when Ghost Riders use other vehicles, even the second Nicolas Cage movie had a cool scene where he took over a giant piece of construction equipment. The primary mode of transportation for Ghost Rider should always be a motorcycle, though.
