Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I liked Coulson, but I might have liked him more earlier on when he was more characterized as a unflinching, unfazed Seen It All bureaucrat type.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Well, did he do something to deserve it? I know a lot of Deadpool's kills are very unjustified in my eyes, since how nonchalant he is about it is often Played for Laughs. One reason I don't really care for him much.
He was manipulated by Hydra-Cap.
The issue is Secret Empire had tons of heroes working or being manipulated by Hydra for various reasons. Fucking Punisher willingly signed up as their hitman cause “Captain America is never wrong”.
And literally only Deadpool is held responsible for his actions while everything everyone else did is completely ignored. A complete double standard since Wade didn’t actually do anything any worse than what everyone else was already doing.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I blame Maria Hill, who deserves to be that pariah
And the writers/editors who wanted a new direction for Deadpool and didn’t care how organic it was
Forever liveblogging the AvengersBecause Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the TV canon is now considered semi-canonical, I hope there would be a more accurate adaptation of Deathlok, Ghost Rider as well a better treatment of the Inhumans.
Though, I don't know how to introduce Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel into the MCU with her being an Inhuman.

Having to start Ghost Rider from scratch again would probably be my biggest issue of ditching Agents of SHIELD.
Though Coulson's continued absence from the rest of the MCU really did make me wish that they were in separate continuities, just because it seems cruel that Tony Stark never learnt that Phil is alive. And went over a decade believing that too.
I really don't want to see the Netflix shows cut from continuity though. I really want to see what becomes of Luke Cage after the shift in status quo series 2 concluded with.
Peggy Carter? I would really like series 1 to be kept, but I'm not sure you can tell the general public "ah, half of this is still canon" that's kind of requesting too much attention to detail.
What's got me wondering is if Runaways and Cloak and Dagger are still cannon. They definatly seemed like they were their self contained thing and I wouldn't expect any additional content from them, but the comics versions of those characters are some of my favourites, and I totally wouldn't be interested in seeing them rebooted.

Context for ![]()
: Loki's series got moved up to Wednesday June 9th, 2021!
And this is more to do with WB, but a recent article from The Hollywood Reporter
has some insight on the upcoming Blade movie.
Namely, the production date got pushed from September 2021 to July 2022 and we have a list of directors who have met with Marvel about helming the movie:
- Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II)
- J.D. Dillard (Sleight)
- Regina King (One Night in Miami)
- Shaka King (Judas and the Black Messiah)
I myself am trying to will Rick Famuyiwa as Blade's director, but hey, so long as the movie turns out great at the end.

We all know the superior Ghost Rider is the one riding a goddamn mammoth anyway.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."

I admit, I never found Coulson that interesting. I think they tried too hard with him, kind of like how Whedon tried too hard with Xander from Buffy.
Disgusted, but not surprised
