Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I actually think Sentry stands a fair bit on his own. "Superman but actually he has split personality, fragile mental health and his other personality is the actual biblical plague Moses called on the firstborn" is so far removed from Superman it's kind of irrelevant by now.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."![]()
I was not familiar with that being the explanation for the Void. That does seem to me to sort of be Superman influenced, in the sense of drawing upon the Jewish influences for Superman, but making them an evil aspect of the character.
I do happen to like with both Sentry and the villain Mr. Negative how the evil split personality exists because the good personality is also fake, and the characters are deeply/willfully in denial about who they are.
The Angel of Death thing tbf was just something Norman Osborne believed. And he was in the middle of a Villainous Breakdown when he claimed it.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI wonder if it would be less or more mean-spirited if the Squadron Supreme were parodies of the DCEU continuity specifically, considering that the DCEU is both the MCU's main competition and also much less popular due to being too grimdark.
Maybe if there was some commentary about how the Squadron used to be these great heroes that everyone looked up to, and then fell from greatness when they lost sight over who they were supposed to be.

No Sentry please. God, I hated that Creator's Pet.
He only worked within his original Mini Series, and even there he wasn't something to write home about.
Bendis bringing him into the regular verse was one of the worst creative decisions of the early 2000s.

But eh, what does death even mean in comics, for A-Listers. He came back from being incinerated inside the sun, he'll come back from this one too, once a writer decides so.
That's one of the things I prefer about adaptations, while occasional resurrections are a thing there too, death at least carries meaning.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersNever mind that each attack of him would've blown up the entire Galaxy if that were true, lol.
But comics have never really been known for their consistency.

Just go full-on and have fun with the Silver Age mockery and Superdickery and see what Uatu has to say.

Though the comics Homelander turned out to be a surprisingly sympathetic take on Evil Superman in the end since a big part of his fall was due to being gaslit by Black Noir.
Disgusted, but not surprised
