Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

He looks like a typical Red Shirt from Star Trek but with a crab shell breastplate. I’ll get used to it.

Well, not necessarily.
Ever since Dr. Strange a few years ago, LEGO sets that release or get advertised before comic book films come out typically either follow the trailers exactly, or make up an entirely new situation for the characters to fight to avoid spoilers.
It's why, for instance, people thought Shuma Gorath was going to be in Dr. Strange, since the set for that depicted the characters fighting a tentacle monster that wasn't in the actual film.
The cast of characters given LEGO versions is probably accurate, but whatever they're doing you should probably take with a grain of salt.
Also, also that's clearly not Fing Fang Foom either way.

Which comics would you recommend to get acquainted with Sang-Chi? Since most of my knowledge of Marvel comes from animated adaptations, this is a character I know next to nothing about since I don't remember having seen him in any of those I've watched nor the comics I've read.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.
x4 I would highly recommend the issues drawn by Paul Gulacy and written by Doug Moench in the 70s, if you can get a hand on them.

That was his creation. Built to capitalize on the kung-fu trend, and originally the son of Fu Manchu. It's no wonder they keep trying to redo his origin.

x3 &
x6: Thanks, I will try to get my hands on those.
I'm somehow relieved to hear that he's a minor character, because I had never heard about him before. I'm very, very far from being a comic buff, but I usually manage to have at least a cursory knowledge of the heroes most likely to appear in films (though I had never heard of Photon before reading the comments on Captain Marvel either).

He's also the subject of an arc of Secret Avengers that deals with his family legacy.
Tony dies, Stane builds the Iron Monger (unclear if he could eventually manufacture its power source), the Mark II is probably claimed by Stane too, he's possibly arrested or killed later, events of The First Avenger and Thor proceed pretty much like normal, come The Avengers Loki wreaks havoc in Germany until Thor stops him, Hawkeye's attack on the Helicarrier sinks it without anyone to repair the rotors, Loki has to pick some other flashy place with a reactor to unleash his army, Avengers fight the Chitauri with even heavier casualties, someone else has to stop the nuke fired at Manhattan (Thor?) which the Avengers may get no warning about if Fury died when the Helicarrier crashed, and that's just Phase 1.

Damn. That's a lot of lives saved because Tony nearly killed himself by not considering the icing problem.
One Strip! One Strip!Tony is a force of good in the universe that balances out Tony as a source of petty grievances
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
Pssh! Now you're talking crazy.
That's like saying Magneto is wrong, or Spiderman isn't responsible for the death of Gwen Stacy.
One Strip! One Strip!
