Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I think one of the points brought up (maybe by me) is that Stane brags about a whole lot of things when fighting Stark, but he does not bring up the assassination of Howard at any point, which seems like something he'd bring up if he were a proud HYDRA member. Either he didn't know Howard was assassinated (so he's not HYDRA) or he was so ashamed of it he didn't bring it up. Think the former is more like it.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I like Obi as someone who might have been aware HYDRA existed, but was an opportunist who sold to everybody and thus wouldn't have affiliated directly with them even if he did know.
This is after all the same guy who was Playing Both Sides of the War on Terror.

I don't think Stane was a member of HYDRA, but likely worked with HYDRA the way a deeply amoral businessman with advanced knowledge would, the same way that Cross was seen discussing with Ten Rings and HYDRA agents in Ant-Man.
Attempting to resolve the implicatons of the newspaper in the first movie with the reveal of Civil War, my interpretation is that Stane wasn't involved in the assassination of Howard Stark in any way but was at least aware enough of what happened that he did whatever he could to make sure he would be the first to benefit from it.

I remember bring up the idea of Stane being Hyrda years ago, after a rewatch of Iron Man post Winter Soldier reveal.
And yeah, most didn't buy it. I do admit, Obi not saying anything about Hyrda does seem to work against it (seems like an odd thing to hold back on).
Still, that speech, combined with what we later come to know, makes it hard to believe otherwise, even if the Hydra twist probably wasn't even a twinkle in anyone's eyes back in that far flung era of 2008
One Strip! One Strip!I feel is the kind of guy do wasnt in HYDRA payroll but was probably upon consideration of joing HYDRA at some moment in the end.
Specially since pierce motivation is "peace though fear" and so far Stane dosent have any utility for the moment.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"It is a bit hard to guess about the ties of Stane with Hydra since the "Hydra has infiltrated Shield" plot did not exist then.
About Shuri as Black Panther, we have already seen her more than holding her ground in combat situations, so it's not as if she was a completely non-action scientist from the start (like, uh, let's say Bruce Banner until Infinity War, or Helen Cho). In fact, it seems to me that she has already more combat experience than Tony had when he first started fiddling with his armours.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.Has anyone suggested Okoye? She became Wakanda’s representative on the Avengers during the Blip
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAccomplished film composer Danny Elfman has confirmed with Inverse
that he will be composing the music for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness!
Fun fact: this marks the third fifth time Sam Raimi and Danny Elfman have worked on a movie. Their last collaboration was on Oz: The Great and Powerful, but their best-known work has to be for Sam Raimi's first two Spider-Man movies (but not the third one, weirdly enough).
EDIT:
Thanks for that. Totally forgot Darkman was a thing.

They had a falling out during Spider-Man 2 when Sam Raimi wanted a piece of the soundtrack
to be much like
the theme from Hellraiser 2, and this caused friction between them. They buried the hatchet later on though, so it's great that they're back in the superhero saddle.
This will be their third superhero collaboration. Aside from Spider-Man 1-2 they also had the forgotten gem Darkman.
This really is such a great scene.
Look how far we've come in. A man in nanotech powered armored teaming up with a wizard and a biologically enhanced human with spider powers against a super-strong alien with a chain-axe and an alien with ultra telekinesis.
We've finally reached that point of full balls to the wall superhero action straight out of the comic books with little toned down for realism.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

Another difference is that Wright's questionable activities seem to have been largely limited to that Twitter exchange. I know Wright has spoken about her strong Christian faith before in interviews, and though I can see being openly religious on set can lead to problems, it's not necessarily the same as the persistent and willful line-crossing that Carano flaunted and which very likely led to Hostility on the Set considering Carano's pattern of behavior is the kind that rarely confines itself to just social media.
