Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

@Elliot Page fancasting, ever since Josh Keaton voiced Black Spider in Young Justice as basically "evil Spider-Man," I've liked the idea of actors who previously voiced heroes coming back as villains. So if Page, Jackman, Paquin, Halle Berry, etc ever show up in the MCU, it'd be cool to see them playing supervillains.
I could definitely see Page as an awesome Black Tom Cassidy.

Paquin as Emma Frost, Jackman as Kraven the Hunter and Halle Berry as...I'm having a hard time remembering a female black supervillain from Marvel other than Black Mariah (which doesn't fit Berry's usual bodytype at all) and Nightshade (which does, actually).
"All you Fascists bound to lose."So, Jackman as Kraven and Berry as Calypso... I wonder if she would be up to that.

Two Mysterious roles for Captain Marvel 2
Best guess, she's Moonstone. Was really expecting them to follow up on the Supreme Intelligence, though I suppose it would work better as a mini-Overarching Villain, and she could be working on behalf of it.
It's funny to think that Moonstone and Carol fighting each other is apparently something that happened only recently (post House of M) despite both of them having powers from the Kree for years.
It's also important to remember they don't have the exactly same powers. Karla Sofen (Moonstone) does not apparently have super strength, but gravity manipulation powers.
The flight and Energy blasts is something they share however.
One Strip! One Strip!I figured the sequel would continue the trend of villains trying to use Carol's power.
My best theory for Moonstone was something along the line of: Minn-Erva survives -> Minn-Erva seeks out human scientist Karla Sofen to help her replicate Carol's power -> Minn-Erva intends to betray and kill said scientist once she has what she wants -> Karla Sofen turns out to be cleverer than she seems and pulls an Eviler than Thou, taking the power for herself -> Sofen becomes Moonstone, and Carol is forced to stop her.
That lets Dr. Minerva and the Kree to seem like the Big Bads for the first leg of the movie, only for Moonstone to take over partway through.
If they go that route they can use part of the recent origin for new villain Star who got her powers working with Dr Minerva
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYou know, given how close to the movie's release the pandemic shutdowns were, I'm starting to wonder if Disney's insistence on releasing Black Widow in theatres despite that clearly not giving them allowance to do anything with it for ages is because it's already been "promised," so to speak.
Like, if they had already had it in contract with theatre companies to the tune of "our movie will release here and here at these times and run for this long," it could be the case that they can't release it on Disney+ without litigation.
I don't know exactly how those contracts work, but it would definitely make sense given that they would have been preparing for release at that point.
There's a mix of many factors, I think. Contracts, keeping face with studio chains and just corporate pride are all factors. Disney, I think, basically stood by and watched to see how Warner would do this thing. End result: Warner Brothers got into some scalding hot water for their decisions to release a bunch of things online without properly discussing this with film theater chains and artists involved.
So Disney just decided "ah fuck it."
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I'm not sure about that because the Mulan remake was only a week away from wide release when the lockdowns started. My assumption is that Disney's sitting on Black Widow because they saw that a big blockbuster on streaming doesn't make nearly close to a typical theater gross. So they're biding their time.

Reportedly, Feige is the one who is against releasing it on Disney+

It's not like theirs a lack of mcu stuff this year to hold the tide. We have after Wandavison , falcon and winter soldier and then Loki.
All of which would buy us another year.
I can see why they don't want to lose our on those big box office bucks for widow
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."The order is linked. As Widow gets pushed back so does everything else Thats supposed to follow it'
For Films I meant. It seems like their moving each along as they don't want them to compete with each other.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."That would be pretty out of character since Karla always fails at betraying the Big Bad and taking over. She's as effective as Starscream.
I'm not sold on Moonstone being the big bad since Monica and Kamala are in the film and i don't think you'd need all three to take her down.
And Minn-erva probably isn't coming back since her actress is one of the Eternals now.
But at that point the should just use Star.
