Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Yeah, I just realized that in the comics Hammer is the old guy, while in the movies it's Stane.
Oh, then it actually makes sense. Sure Rhodey can use the armour, but Tony can use the armour (that he built) and is a genius scientist. Same reason for Bruce. Fury has been watching him this whole time, and may even be aware that "Bruce is always angry" (he definitely knew the latter was in control, or they'd have never brought him there. And if they need something more beyond the Science Bruce and Tony provide...whelp! The walking armoury and the puny god smasher take the stage. Which is exactly what happened.
I kinda of agree with this. Like, there are some vast benefits to letting the War Machine armour slim down. It could hold even more weapons for one, which would make it an even more effective War Machine. Like, the Iron Man armour in it Mark III state (the one that he used to style all over the entirety of the Ten Ring's ass in Gulmira) was effective because with a small power source like the Arc Reactor, it could fit a shit load of weapons and still have energy to spare, and as the MCU went on, Tony continued to perfect and refine his designs, while being able to incorporate better and better weapons as well.
Take the Walking Armoury status of War Machine, skinny that up a bit like Iron Man, and then add in the usual heavy arsenal. Rhodey's twice as effective.
Of course, there may be other issues that I'm not considering: like, the extra weapons on a slimmer design might throw off balance or aim or something else. Plus, maybe Rhodey just prefers bulkier for one reason or another so Tony accommodates him while making the suit as effective as that design can be.
One Strip! One Strip!I mean, logically, even if the War Machine armor is made of nanobots, two or three times the number of nanobots would result in a stronger armor. I figure the extra bulk comes with a proportionate increase to offense and defense, even if it's a tad slower and less energy-efficient.

Plus the War Machine armour was designed for military deployment not super heroics. So the armaments chosen have to be better suited to a variety of roles (e.g. suppressive fire, air to ground attacks) that the Iron Man version probably isn't as good at.
You want a suit to go toe to toe with Thanos, Iron Man armour is your choice. But if you are specifically looking to plow through a horde of mooks then War Machine is your answer .
(And yes Stark could go through mooks with ease but then he is 1. The Hero and 2. Very experienced and capable in the suit.)
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Yeah. Tony's knowledge of how to use his suits comes from not only building every single one himself, but also personally testing them as well. Rhodey's got long time combat experience and training that likely helps him but gives him a very different style from how Tony fights.
One Strip! One Strip!Ehhhhhhhhhhhh I dunno
The character nougat inside the armor is worth a lot
Forever liveblogging the AvengersMarvel Studios' Blade has a writer now!
Say hello to Stacy Osei-Kuffour! She was the story editor for HBO's Watchmen series, aka the Watchmen TV sequel that turned out better than anyone expected!
Even more awesome, Stacy holds the distinction of officially being the first Black woman to write a Marvel movie!

It's also extremely similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
So the comma is shorthand for original title, do not steal
I mean BTVS B,TVS its the only way to distinguish them abbreviated.
And also nobody is going to comma the abbreviation anyway

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI was gonna suggest Vampire Hunter Blade but....
Maybe, Blade: Vampire Killer/Hunter.
We can't use Slayer....I think. It has been a few years.
One Strip! One Strip!

Well, Ezekiel appeared as a villain in the Iron Man 3 mobile game.
Yeah, it's not canon, but still...
He was also supposed to appear in the first Avengers movie as a secondary villain before Whedon cut him out.
