Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Just be hit by several ear worms in quick succession and see if it gets buried.
Wake me up at your own risk.Zendaya talks about life on set so far
there's been sequences where they're all running away from things they can't see (insert CGI later), as well as "aliens"
Finally, something that's not to do with WandaVision, which I STILL haven't started, what's wrong with me...
We have our first pics of Thor and Star-Lord in Thor: Love and Thunder!
- R.I.P. Bro Thor. Long Live Rockin' 80s Hot Thor.
- Fun fact: Thor’s sleeveless jacket looks like it's based on the one worn by Thunderstrike
!
- Look even closer at Thor's boots. They appear to have yellow taping evoking the boots
from his super-retro comics outfit!

- Jog my memory, did Quill rock the Badass Longcoat in Infinity War/Endgame? Because it's back with a vengeance here.

Last time Star Lord had a long coat was in Vol 2 he wore it in the scene with Ayesha and on the way to Ego's planet then he swapped to the jacket. He's stuck with the jacket through IW and Endgame. The ONLY time he hasn't completely changed his costume is between IW/EG. most likely due to the snap
Why yes I AM a Cos-player who has excessively studied that character's costume changes, why do you ask?
Cool. And it looks like Quill's longcoat has some armored plating going on.
We also have our first shots of Nebula and Kraglin!
I keep forgetting Sean Gunn is both Kraglin and Rocket's stand-in...
I wonder if the upcoming movies and series will keep some "solo" films with no other characters than those about whom the movie is about apart from some cameos, or if the lines between each character's respective universes will continue to blur. Or maybe it is only the Thor movies that will get this treatment now.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.The set photos look cool.
Also, I really love how the MCU has had that intersection between the space opera "Cosmic" storyline and the sword and sorcery Asgardian storyline. I know one of the earlier movies (was it Age of Ultron? Dark World?) started it, but it's been really effectively embraced by Waititi.
It's accurate to the comics (for instance, Gorr the Godbutcher's demon sword is directly connected to the symbiotes, and Conan the Barbarian is a Marvel comics character).
But also, it is nicely reflective of how space opera and sword and sorcery are pretty closely connected as genres, and there's a history of sword and sorcery books doing a Genre Roulette.
One specific example that came to mind is Alyx
, written by Joanna Russ, who appears both as a fantasy rogue and in science fiction stories as an agent of the "Trans-Temporal Authority". Which I'd assume is where Marvel "borrowed" its Time Variance Authority
, soon to appear in Loki (2021).

One character that I would like to see appear in Thor 4, even as a cameo is Kid Loki.
I imagine him as a clone of Loki, which the original loki created in case he was ever killed.
To avoid the Squick in case he has a relationship with a young person (Boy or girl), it is by saying that the new Loki has no memories of his previous life, so his mental age and physical age are the same.

Loki no, but his clone / reincarnation Kid Loki could do it.
And assuming Richard E. Grant is Old Loki, we'd have the whole trio.
Old Loki would be the most evil of the three, Kid Loki would be the friendly, while 2012 Loki would be in the middle.

Zemo rocking the mask and a full look at Walker's Cap suit.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."He is referred as "Baron" in the image, though.
I actually spent a unhealthy amount of time today wondering about that. Given its location (stated to be between Slovenia and the Czech Republic) Sokovia was probably in the Soviet side of the iron curtain, and even if Sokovia had a aristocracy system the Soviets would have most definitely abolished it, meaning Zemo can't have been from a aristocratic family.
Then again, Daniel Bruhl is German in nationality, so it's possible that his family is a expatriate German/Austrian noble family, but the germanic nobilities got abolished after WWI (though Germany was more wishy-washy about it and allowed noble surnames to stand) so one way or another the aristocracy of Zemo would be several generations removed. Two or three generations if Sokovia had a internal aristocratic system before the Soviets took over and four to five generations back if their hypothetical aristocracy is germanic (considering Bruhl was born in 1978, I'd guess four to five).
And the question is there to be asked why the Hell Zemo would even consider dredging back a title like that. It doesn't seem like it'd be a big concern for his character as established, as he has no particular drive to make himself sound important or establish his lineage or somesuch.
The wonky but passable route would be that "Baron" was his nom de guerre in the EKO Scorpion death squad he helmed and he simply picks it up again once he decides to go back in the intelligence business.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."

I know the Spaniard dub actor for FOX's Quicksilver apparently reported having voiced the character again in Wandavision.
