Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The only thing I've seen of Thor/Storm is a scene where they're flying around each other and Thor is thinking about the differences between their lightning, how his lightning is violent and wild while her lightning is fluid and perfectly controlled.
Some cute as hell poetic shit right there, if that's what their relationship as a whole is like, I support it.
Interestingly the 2018 Exiles run was originally planning on having the daughter of Storm and Thor as a member before she got switched out for MCU Val.
Pretty cool concept, named Thunderstorm and she comes from a future where Storm somehow ruled Asgard for a time with Thor as her concubine.
Where is that from?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I misremembered the scene a little, but here it is
◊. Apparently, it's in Marvel Adventures, which was non-canon and made for all-ages (all-ages romanticism).
Unfortunately, I found like three different scans of the page and this one had the best quality. You can make out what they're saying if you zoom in, but here's a transcript anyway:
- Narrator: "Nearby..."
- Storm: "And I can do this."
- Thor: "It's warm. My lightning is so cold."
- Thor: "And so destructive. But you construct lightning as if it were elegant jewelry."
- Thor: "Your grace is as amazing as your beauty."
- Storm: "Thanks, but your lightning has such strength. Really. I'm impressed."
- Storm: "Do you ever watch thunderstorms?"
- Storm: "And not just the ones you make, but just, just sit back and see what nature can do?"
- Thor: "Often, I find it humbling."
- Storm: "It can't be often that a god feels humbled."
- Thor: "Nay, you're wrong. It happens all the time."
- Thor: "It's happening right now."
Fuckin' romantic as shit. I love the idea that Thor and Storm's lightning are so different from each other, and that natural thunderstorms still impress them.

Here's a link to a bigger version
.
That whole story in Marvel Avengers is cute and hilarious. It's basically them trying to hide the relationship from Odin when he comes to visit, like a wacky sitcom plot.
And it ends with Spiderman tricking Odin into thinking Wolverine is some kind of troll (which to be fair, Logan does a good impression of! Zing!), leading to Odin pummelling him into the ground, and Logan swearing revenge on Spidey.
One Strip! One Strip!Power of webs! Make things sticky!
But yeah. If Thor is the consummate shit talker of the MU,
then Storm is the best hype-lady of the 90's series.
Girl knew how to build up to a moment.
One Strip! One Strip! That was much hammier than I had remembered.
I will say though that (at least without checking), that is pretty much how Eddie Brock as Venom tends to sound in adaptations with that kind of loud Guttural Growler voice.
As much as I love that scene (and Spec!Venom), Venom’s turn was so rushed to me. You would think that Eddie would put two and two together after finding out all that information and realize that Peter had pretty good reasons for doing the things he did.
Then again, he probably just wanted an excuse to kill Peter.

Apparently resentment that when both Peter's and Eddie's parents died, Peter got adopted by his aunt and Eddie was stuck in foster care
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSpectacular!Brock was much more damaged/less well adjusted than he outwardly seemed. The Venom symbiote just tipped him over the edge rather than changing him fundamentally as a person.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."But what gets me about Eddie is that he very much contradicts himself after becoming Venom, using people that he actually cares about just to hurt Peter.
Like he says he loves Gwen but then he tries to kill her later. He’ll visit Aunt May in the hospital after her heart attack...but then also try to kill her in the next episode. He says he cares about the Connors family, but still steals the Symbiote anyway.
I don’t know, Eddie is just kind of a psychotic idiot. Had the show went on, I feel like we really would have seen that it wasn’t really about Peter so much as just wanting a reason to lash out at something.
Sidenote: I don’t really think this is the thread for this conversation so I’ll just tie it back to the MCU by saying that I’m SO glad that they’re not doing the symbiote arc in the Spidey movies. It’s easily the most overused Spidey story in media.

I think that was the New Mutants/Asgard story
