Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Crazy that WandaVision's premier tomorrow marks the end of a year and a half long drought of MCU. I remember back when I was still going to my University's campus for classes, during breaks one of our regular topics of conversation were the latest Black Widow trailers (which we of course thought was just around the corner), and even at the time it felt like it had been a good while since Spider-Man.
Deadline is reporting that Chris Evans eyeing a return to the MCU.
I can’t say I’d want Steve back in a leading role after Endgame wrapped up his story, but I would be fine with him appearing in a guest star capacity in Falcon and the Winter Soldier or She-Hulk. Or as a Skrull.

In fact, now that the MCU has time travel, and with the mechanism that taking things or people from the past does not change the present, they could bring back anybody they want (like they did with Gamora and sort of with Loki). Of course it would feel like a cop-out but it can be interesting if done sparingly and right.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.Technically they could also just de-age Cap at any time the same way they accidentally de-aged Scott.
However, I'm still holding out on hope for a flashback movie a la The Invaders or something. Or, like, them pulling the same thing as the comics and Earth's Mightiest Heroes by having Cap and/or the Howling Commandos be part of Wolverine's backstory.
They specify it'd be a supporting role, which leads me to believe it'd either be A) a movie where he appears as old man Steve Rogers or B) something to do with the Multiverse where he plays an alternate Captain America.
Long shot, but I've also seen some speculation that since they're planning the return of the X-Men, he could appear in a WW 2 flashback where he encounters Wolverine.
Yes, then we could see what happened on Vormir, as Cap finally met the Red Skull again.
Bet that was awkward...
Trope Editor (he/him)Out of curiosity, do we know at what time of day Wanda Vision premieres tomorrow?
It'd be pretty interesting to see Skull and Cap meeting one another as old men at the end of their race, just in different ways.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I'm glad to see more appearances by Evans in the MCU, and I would have liked to see more of his (young) Cap.
However, my first thought when hearing the news was that just like the comics, the MCU was lying about Sam being the new Captain America.
So, I kind of hope these are either flashback appearances or else appearances as Old!Cap.
I'm looking forward to seeing him return the Soul Stone to Vorimir, kick the Red Skull in the groin, and carry out a (successful) Orpheus-style rescue of Natasha
Reports of Chris Evans' return might have been greatly exaggerated?

You know given how many reports of the past couple of months have had actors denying they were cast and then it being confirmed, I don't know maybe I'm suspicious of his denial now?... Perhaps I'm being too paranoid.
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midChris Evans returns to play the Human Torch... the original, Golden Age Human Torch, that is.
Because of course a WWII era scientist creating an android to fight Nazis would model the android's appearance after that of Captain America. And it'd be a nice wink to Evans' previous Marvel role.
I know he already got a cameo in First Avenger, but, android. They could easily say he just had his features rearranged to resemble Rogers'.

Frankly, I'd rather her be exclusively Hulk by the halfway point.
