Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I saw somebody on Reddit suggest the film should be the MCU's equivalent of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, by showing what Deadpool was doing during the events of previous films like Endgame.
He was dusted, and while dusted, he met with Death, who was sad because this continuity's Thanos pays her no mind. There they had a romance lasting five years, probably with threesome with Vanessa if she was dusted too.
Also, at some point Deadpool makes a veiled allusion to being glad for the soft reboot to give a chance for 'that guy who was blacklisted' to be wiped off the record without any continuity issues. Nobody understands who he's talking about.

Oh yeah I totally forgot about him. For some reason I thought you were talking about an MCU actor. Good riddance to him anyway.
He also works, and good riddance to him as well.

You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midI'm looking forward to Deadpool 3 directly parodying, lampshading and/or lampooning swaths of the MCU, in the same way the previous did the same for the Fox X-Men universe while still operating within it.
I wonder if Bob: Agent of HYDRA is going to be a thing in the film. They could cast the same guy who played Bob, Nondescript Evil Minion from the first movie.

I'm hoping that we have references to all the marvel tv shows. Obviously the bad ones (Inhumans, Iron Fist), but even then I'd like a reference to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and how none of the previous films ever so much as hinted at the tv side of things (except maybe when coulson died in Avengers).

Someone on Twitter
made a super-curious observation regarding the MCU version of SWORD...
Topps released virtual cards for WandaVision. Among them was one that featured the logo for SWORD. Task noticed that while Comics!SWORD stood for "Sentient World Observation and Response Department," the MCU version of SWORD stands for "Sentient Weapon Observation Response Division".
Is this a big deal?
Signs point to yes, because Comics!SWORD was basically SHIELD in space, so swapping "World" and "Department" for "Weapon" and "Division" more than solidifies the theory that MCU!SWORD is essentially SHIELD 2.0 (now with less HYDRA moles hopefully) since SHIELD until its (official) demise was all about keeping tabs on superheroes or anyone that can be considered a living weapon. (We know that term fits Wanda and Vision like gloves.)
Personal food for thought: Might it be that SWORD in the MCU is composed of two units: one division that's oriented on Earth while the other one is focused on intergalactic relations, like what we saw in Spider-Man: Far From Home?

It would actually be pretty dope to have Mole Man adapted into the MCU.
Bonus points if he's affiliated with the Morlocks. (Which, though unlikely, is a neat idea I just thought of.)
Trope Editor (he/him)
My thoughts exactly. Question is, who's running the joint on Earth? Might it be one Abigail Brand? (Would make sense if the MCU is ever so delicately planting the seeds for mutantkind since mutants in general can be regarded as "Sentient Weapons".)

I want Deadpool to make infinite jokes about Cable being Thanos, and for Cable to not understand any of them.
