Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

It was vaguely important in the Young Avengers all having ties to Avengers. Although Captain Mar-Vell was really an edge case.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNot sure myself, but because Mar-vell in the MCU is the rare Kree who is sympathetic to/protective of Skrulls, I would find it completely plausible if she had a relationship with one. And they could be of any gender, because Bizarre Alien Biology can explain anything.
I would say though that internal chronology gives me the sense though that it would make more sense for Hulkling to be Mar-vell's grandson though than son.
I this vague idea of a Summers Family Tree in which you'd have Hulkling, the Super Skrull, and the evil Mar-Vell as relatives. Maybe Jazinda too.
Also, the MCU should start using some "random Skrulls". Like obviously Veranke will be important (Talos' daughter maybe?) but also if they want a heroic Skrull for some purpose, use Tarna and M'lanz
They’ll prolly just have him be the son of another famous Kree champion.
Being the son of Wendy Mar-Vell doesn’t work as well since he was changed to a not particularly famous Kree scientist I believe while keeping being the child of a Skrull prince/princess would be easy. So the effect of him being the son of a Kree & Skrull prolly wouldn’t work as well if he’s the son of some random scientist most famous for dying on a backwater planet.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."IIRC while we didn't get any information that Wendy Mar-vell was someone of importance in Kree society, we didn't get any information that she wasn't either.
I'd find it believable that she used to be a high ranking Kree soldier.
Edit - I just remembered when mentioning her in the Diversity thread that Phylla-vell should appear. I'm on Team Skrull, but the MCU could also use some more good Kree.

So... what comes next?
To be honest, I wasn't expecting the arrival of folks like Ironheart or Kamala Khan to show up so soon since they're basically the newest generation of breakout heroes in the comics. Who's coming after them? Are the comics going to have to invent new generations at breakneck speed now? Or are the movies just going to abandon relying on the comics as a source and make their own original new heroes now? Who knows.
There are still so many heroes and villains they could use. The Power Pack, the god knows how many X-Teams, White Tiger, all the other Avengers, the New Warriors in some way, the super helmet Nova... There are decades worth of characters, they could elevate one or another to start making films. Not like elevating a character from obscurity into a mega star is difficult for them.
Wake me up at your own risk.I just wanna know if they own Magneto again, are they gonna make Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch his children again in the comics? (That retcon still pisses me off...) I doubt they're gonna be related in the MCU; Of course maybe we could have some House Of M shenanigans.
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midWell apparently in some kind of recent info-book it says that in the part of Sokovia that the twins lived in it is reputed that the people there had some kind of genetic anomalies. With the 2 being the only successful case of the experiments due to that and some special relations apparently.
Either a mythology gag or a hint to something bigger, who knows.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."![]()
There was a recent MCU Guidebook (The Wakanda Files) and several other pieces of ancillary media that made some vague suggestion that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch had some sort of inner genetic factor that was "unlocked" by the Mind Stone rather than actually being granted powers by it.
It would be a very small matter to retcon the origin slightly by saying they were mutants whose latent powers were awakened by the Stone.
Honestly I’d love a Starbrand movie that focused in on suddenly becoming godtier while still having the mentality of a random jerk
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOof....
So it seems Emma Fuhrmann was completely unaware she was getting recast.
She found out after the investors' presentation that other actress was playing Cassie.
Yeah, it bites, but the entertainment industry is still a business at the end of the day, so I guess this kind of stuff happens a lot of times anyway, so what can we do about it other than whine and moan over it online?
It's possible that certain top brass figured Kathryn Newton would have better chemistry with the rest of the cast.
In any case, it's probably healthier to hope that better times will come.

Random thought that occurred to me: with all of the multiverse stuff coming up, how are we going to deal with the character folders?
Most of the alternate versions of characters from Endgame have too minor roles and are too similar to their original counterparts to warrant separate entries, but our new Loki is probably going to need a separate folder on his character page. And the current "Multiverse" page is probably going to get really bloated once What If...? comes out.

How important is it for Hulkling to be Mar-Vell's son anyway? I always thought he was important due to the whole "half-Kree/half-Skrull" thing, I only just now learned the bit about Mar-Vell.
Though I suppose it makes sense why the Kree would be willing to make him Emperor.
