Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I really enjoy the whole fight between Gamora and Nebula in GOTG 2, plus Yondu mowing down his crew even if it's more of a Curb-Stomp Battle. The whole bridge fight in Ragnarok is up there, the Titan fight scene (s) in Infinity War, Thor, Tony and Cap against Thanos in Endgame (not the actual massive final battle), and don't get me started on the Netflix shows.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)If there is a hypothetical champions theme, the Avengers wouldn't have much to do with them in general. The Champions formed because of how the avengers sucked at their job, and they had a greater focus on helping kids in need than the usual crime fighting stuff. Out of all the big teams, they're the least focused on the supervillain stuff, so they'd stand out in the MCU and not step on the Young Avengers' toes.
That's because he's a super bad team player. He fought the fantastic four instantly because they wouldn't let him join. He wasn't some innocent child. That's why it took forever for him to join the avengers. Also, Peter was assumed to be much older than he was by everyone.
Both parts of the final Endgame battle— the three-on-one and the massive army-vs-army clash —are definitely up there for me, as is the battle on Titan.
For lower-key choices I quite like the freeway fight with the Winter Soldier from his eponymous film, the car chase fight from Ant-Man and the Wasp, and the Guardians of the Galaxy vs. the Abilisk.
I'm a sucker for flashy fight scenes in general, though. I'd be hard-pressed to name one I didn't like.
If we include the Netflix shows then pretty much every single fight scene from Daredevil, the amusement park fight between Punisher and Russo, and the hallway fight from Defenders' third episode.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Xochitl Gomez is Miss America in Doctor Strange 2
I don't know what age is Miss America in the comics, but the actress seems too young (14) to play her. However, I believe is because a) she's not Miss America in that she has yet developed her powers or b) they want to emphasize "young" in Young Avengers. I definitely hope they're not doing it as an excuse to hide the fact she's a lesbian ("The Eternals" has a gay superhero). I don't know if somebody else had already posted this and if it does I apologize.
I mean, I've wanted them to adapt the Power Pack for a long time now, a team of child superheroes, and I think older versions of Julie Powers are either canonically bisexual or lesbian. On the topic of young characters who aren't straight. My point is that she can be a lesbian at the age of 14, just be fairly innocent about it.

I organize works in a franchise by its villains. Why? I don't know. It was a thing I did when I was a kid, and I guess I never grew out of it. It actually is helpful for remembering the various plots—after all, a majority of the story is driven by trying to stop the Evil Plan, so if you have even a partial memory of who the Big Bad was and what they were trying to do, you're about halfway done reconstructing the story arc.
Anyways, I decided to take a look at all the new shows and movies announced and give my two cents on who the Big Bad might be for each. Because fuck it, why not?
- WandaVision: No fucking clue. "Agnes," Kathryn Hahn's character, has been rumored to be Agatha Harkness and definitely seems malevolent, but the huge case of Adaptational Villainy that brings makes me doubt it. The two most likely possibilities are either whoever the Big Bad of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is, or a case of No Antagonist, with Wanda's grief fucking up reality (possibly still being influenced by the former).
- The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Zemo, USAgent, and Flag-Smasher (most likely Erin Kellyman from the trailer, or at least her boss) are all in the series. Zemo seems like he's just getting dragged into this mess, and given the time at which the show was supposed to be released I'm pretty sure the more Nationalistic villain will turn out to be worse than the Anarchists.
- Black Widow: Taskmaster. No contest.
- Loki: Also no fucking clue. The TVA looks like they may have some backing from Kang, but I doubt he'll show up so soon. If that woman everyone is thinking is Nat turns out to not be the case, I could see her being the Enchantress. I'm 90% sure Richard E. Grant is King Loki. I've also heard rumors of the Squadron Supreme showing up, but they don't seem like they'd fit with the "mysterious cloaked figure in black'' thing.
- What If... ?: An anthology series, but at least one episode centered on Doctor Strange is probably going to be relevant to Multiverse of Madness, so fuck it. I could see either the Hunger Gospel (Marvel Zombies); that evil Doctor Strange either behind this iteration of the Gospel, working for the Multiverse Big Bad, or both; or just the Multiverse Big Bad outright.
- Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings: The Mandarin, though Fin Fang Foom is also rumored to show up. He could either be a weapon the Mandarin wants to release or his boss (similar to how Dormammu and the Supreme Intelligence were technically the lead villains but had about 5 minutes of screentime combined).
- Eternals: Druig is stated to be the leader of the Deviants, but the appearance of Kro (their usual leader) makes it seem likely he'll be The Starscream. Additionally, the Deviants might just be Disc One Final Bosses to the Celestials, or at least one evil one. Maybe the Dreaming Celestial?
- Ms. Marvel: I'm relatively certain that Rish Shah is playing Kamran, which is a shame. I was holding out for the Inventor.
- Hawkeye: The proper Giulietta Nefaria incarnation of Madame Masque, most likely Kate's mother. The Swordsman and the Clown will also be appearing.
- Spider-Man 3: Kraven and Scorpion seemed the most likely, though the multiverse stuff throws that into question. It's still possible: Kraven could be hunting the Spider-Men of the multiverse, while Scorpion takes his assumed role of trying to bring Peter to "justice."
- Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: Mordo is confirmed to appear, but is also stated to unleash "unspeakable evils." Scott Derrickson's Nightmare-boner is well known, but I'm hoping for Shuma-Gorath.
- Thor: Love and Thunder: Christian Bale is confirmed as Gorr the God-Butcher.
- Black Panther II: Achebe seems most likely, though Namor is also a popular choice.
- Captain Marvel 2: If the Supreme Intelligence hasn't been dealt with yet, I'm just going to guess Moonstone.
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Most likely the Magus—I don't see Ayesha stepping out of Big Bad Wannabe territory, and I doubt Adam Warlock will stay evil for long.
- Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania: Jonathan Majors is confirmed as Kang the Conqueror, though I'm hoping he'll be a secondary villain to MODOK or Eric O'Grady, and play a larger part in Young Avengers
- She-Hulk: Titania is being cast, though the Leader or Red-Hulk would be more likely—at least for a first season.
- Secret Invasion: We know barely anything about it, but given the context of the title I'll just say Veranke for now.
- Armor Wars: I'd be very surprised if Justin Hammer didn't show up. Less so if he shows up and gets screwed over by Sasha or Justine, though him Taking a Level in Badass would be pretty cool.
- Don't have enough details/prior knowledge to comment on Blade, Fantastic Four, Moon Knight, and Ironheart.

Some of you guys might have noticed it by now, but it looks like all the social media pages for Fant4stic (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) have been repurposed to serve as the social media pages for Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot. GOOD.
Plus, that room with the three heads we saw in the Loki trailer was thought to be the Council of Kangs, but the three giant heads look to be the Time-Keepers.
I still can't believe we're getting Kang and the F4 in a few years' time. Those former Fox execs must be frothing by now...
The confirmation that Bale actually is playing Gorr is interesting since how is gonna play out.
Gorr’s storyline in the comics is essentially the Gods suck & another worthy story for Thor, neither of which can actually be done since Gods aren’t really a major thing & we already went through worthy stories.
They could just play up Gorr being an insane serial killer & not give him much of a point.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
I imagine they're more concerned about establishing Jane!Thor than they are Gorr. Like, I would heavily doubt Waititi et. al. go into the whole 3 timelines aspect of the run from which Gorr originates, for example, because that would trade off with developing Jane's situation since we last saw her in Dark World.
Yeah. Thor did have another enemy with a penchant for God killing though: Desak the God Slayer
, who's story is quite similar to Gorr (though he focused entirely on Gods, and could apparently be reasoned with, while God just killed any gods for being Gods and their followers as well), meaning the two could probably be easily combined into one character, perhaps as way to work around some of the issues with Gorr's character.

One thing that can be said about the heroes of the MCU is they have a greater sense of responsibility towards underage heroes. In comics canon, the older heroes pretty much ignored or were callous at Spider-Man when he still was a boy (and that's without going on how he was treated in the Ultimate line), where the movies make a point of it being a mistake of Tony to bring them into the other heroes' conflicts, and then Tony actually tries to be protective of him.
So I'd expect that any teen team in this universe would be carefully looked after by the adults, and that said adults wouldn't be thrilled if many of said teams start popping up all at once or so.
