Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Ben Grimm would probably be unlikely, considering the Unfortunate Implications of giving a Race Lift to the one guy who you see in human form the least, so I'd bet on one of the other three if they Race Lift anyone.
They certainly have an enticing roster of creatives thus far and I'm sure these'll be mostly good, just not sure if I have faith in them being allowed by Disney to flesh them out into the full extent of what they could be.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)Depending on the continuity, Kang the Conqueror is sometimes thought to be descended from Reed Richards, and since it's reported he's going to played by Jonathan Majors, it's possible that Reed might be Black too.
When you're a descendant from the 31st century it's very possible to have ancestors who are a completely different ethnicity. So I could totally see them still casting a white actor for reed richards, but also an asian, native american, any ethnicity really.
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midThat sounds like a significant lack of not blaming Tony Stark. You sir, are a blasphemer.
So I guess he doesn't know there have already been four FF movies then, huh?
Cause as you all recall, I somewhat made the same joke, and you all crush my joy by revealing that unreleased Roger Corman film.
Damn him! It was so freaking perfect! You ruined everything Corman! You ruined everything!
One Strip! One Strip!I’ve said for a while I liked the idea of a Latino Reed as a counterpart to DOOM who I fully expect to run with the Latvertian royalty. A relatively good guy, worked for everything he had, For Science!, doesn’t care who the smartest guy is in the room so long as they solve the problem, vs. a royal with an ego the size of Boston and living in opulence.
And whoever has not watched the Corman film...
...'is really missing out.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
I love that the movie looks exactly like it was made in the 70s... except it came out the same year as Jurassic Park.
Extremely. This is due a cocktail mixture of low budget, attempt to capture the comics 60's funkiness, and the little-known fact all copies we have of the movie are very dire quality bootlegs, with the original 35mm version of it being presumed lost (rumour has it Avi Arad had the master copy burned out of spite).
You can see how it was supposed to look in this trailer:
And it does look significantly better.
There's actually a documentary from 2015 chronicling the bizarre journey of the movie. It's called "Doomed! The Untold Story of Roger Corman's The Fantastic Four".
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Technically, Kang's descended from Reed's father Nathaniel Richards, making Reed Kang's great-great-great...etc. grand uncle. Kang is Reed's Evil Nephew many generations removed.

Disgusted, but not surprisedYep, his father Nathaniel had another family with a woman named Cassandra in an alternate universe / timeline.
This was after Reed's mother Evelyn died, so Nathaniel wasn't a philanderer or anything.
Kang the Conqueror is descended from Nathaniel and Cassandra's still unnamed son (Reed's half-brother).

Disgusted, but not surprised...I have to admit, I never realized that Nova's real name is literally Dick Rider.
Trope Editor (he/him)Just got around watching the trailers. Is Wandavision happening inside the mind stone or something? There is a shot of it exploding at the end.
x23 Also thought I saw a shot of Nat in the Loki trailer.
