Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

@Emerald Emperor: That seems fairly reasonable on terms of how to fix it honestly. I know nothing at all about the show (can't get it here in the UK) so couldn't comment much further.

"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."The only real connections to the wider MCU are a few references to the planned Ghost Rider show, Roxxon, and... uh... a wine brand and some newspapers that were created by the other shows. Basically, easter eggs that were so small they either forgot to take them out or were just too lazy to.
Uh, question from someone who's never done this before: how would one delete the already existing character pages?

You might not be able to see it, but Clint's wearing a hearing aid.
In the comics, Clint is actually deaf and needs hearing aids. How it happens sort of fluctuates. In his 1983 miniseries, he gets his eardrums wrecked by a sonic arrowhead (which he kinda did to himself to get his senses back to stop a bad guy called Crossfire, long story). In the Heroes Reborn relaunch, Clint's eardrums were restored.
However, in Matt Fraction's Hawkeye run (which the Disney+ series is getting most of its elements from), not only did Clint get his eardrums messed up when a bad guy called Clown stabbed him there, but there are even flashbacks that show he got deaf when he was a kid.
Clint's deafness still seemed to be an overlooked detail that even the MCU didn't bother with it at first. But I guess times have changed, because not only are we getting the hearing aids here, but also in the Marvel's Avengers game by Crystal Dynamics.
In any case, hooray for representation!

Clint’s deafness was fairly prominent in the 60s, kinda vanished after that, but started making its return in the last few years.
I’m definitely for its inclusion, though I have mixed feelings about it being attached to an actor who tended to brush it off with ‘this is an alternate character from the purple guy in comic books’ or such, so eh.
I still hope that Clint here is closer to his Age of Ultron depiction, rather than his Endgame one. I know that it was said this is supposed to explore his time as Ronin, but I personally hope they keep that to a minimum.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadI don’t think Clint was deaf in the 60s
I think it was a thing from the 80s that was later undone in the 90s and redone in the 2000s

Man its weird seeing a previous adaptation of the characters before it got consistently synergized to the MCU's portrayal.
Like these Guardians are just so different compared to what came later. Star-Lord is a grizzled veteran soldier & not a puckish rogue, Rocket has a Cockney accent and appears to actually respect Quill, Groot is wearing clothes, the Guardians are an actual peacekeeping force with uniforms, & there are non-movie members here.
