Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Wait, Apocalypse got a Heel–Face Turn? The mutant that's in love with the concept of war? That Apocalypse?
The legend has returned.Basically, yeah.
Since Krakoa is showing the world that mutants can be as awesome as he always thought, he's pretty much like mah work 'ere's done and letting them do their thing.
One Strip! One Strip! All Apocalypse had to give up was his entire motivation. But his motivation was shitty so good job Xavier.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI don't think thats what survival of the fittest means but also nothing Apocalypse did was what survival of the fittest means either
I'm just glad he's being less of a prick.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell then yeah mutants might be the fittest now, what with Krakoa being the orgy island now

Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt's not just about fucking.
It's about fucking the best there is to fuck (no, not you Logan!).
I mean, nobody should settle for anything less.
One Strip! One Strip! The problem with Apocalypse's Heel–Face Turn in the new X-Men stories is that they also give him something of a justification for his Social Darwinist bullshit. Oh no, he totally had to engage in his brutal "survival of the fittest" crap to prepare the world for a demon invasion!

Disgusted, but not surprisedApocalypse is a Social Darwinist & really it’s not like he’s the only one who misinterprets what the phrase actually means.
His philosophy is essentially might makes right & the strongest holds dominion over all. Simple & understandable.
It’s not anymore dumb than Thanos wanting to kill all of existence to bang the physical metaphysical representation of Death.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."But we make fun of Thanos a lot.
Infinity Gauntlet was one big incel tantrum.

I remember one fancomic depicting Thanos trying to impress Death with all the people he killed, followed by Death blowing him off to go on a date with Deadpool instead since Deadpool actually asked her out. This was followed by Thanos angrily whining on a forum about Death.

Does this mean we get to always make fun of Spider-Man since the Spidey-Mobile exists?
I still maintain that whatever issues the MCU version of Thanos has, it was smart not to use his original motivation from the comics. Having the ultimate Big Bad of the first three phases be a guy who just wanted to get laid would have fallen flat unless you were going for outright parody.

Agh that’s gonna be something to worry about.
Especially since Eddie is trying really fucking hard to be a better person & good father.
