Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

We technically haven’t really had a traditional Green Goblin.
The original movie one had the Power Rangers suit that wasn’t sorta authentic. We still don’t have the one with the purple cap & shit.
Oooooh they can use this design by Alex Ross if they want. I think it can transfer well to live-action.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I'm alright with a traditional Ock because Doctor Octopus is The Penguin of Spider-Man's rogues gallery, characterized by his constantly fluctuating characterization. Ock's constant is that he's a scientist with mechanical arms, while Penguin's is that he's a criminal with penguin-esque deformities/appearance, but otherwise everything is fair game. Ock has been focused more as a criminal mastermind, a scientist at heart, very principled or completely heartless or any combination of those. Molina Ock played up more on the idea of him being a scientist at heart and having that passion for science be his grace and his downfall (a characterization picked up by Insomniac, for example), but there's a lot more you can do with the character.
A more Diabolical Mastermind take on Ock for example would be fun, harkening to the Master Planner years of the character.
Dafoe's Goblin I consider pretty close to perfect so I'm satisfied here.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Maybe kill off the Running Gag of everyone having the hots for May by making Otto her boyfriend like a surprisingly large amount of times in the comics.
The legend has returned.Of which JJ refuses to take responsibility for, using “I didn’t know he was a psycho” as an excuse.

It’s interesting because while Scorpion does have better offensive options through his claws & humongous stinger tail, Spidey’s more utilitarian webs have so many uses & benefits that he still comes out as superior to Scorpion’s simplistic tools.
Jameson did eventually confess to creating the Scorpion when the Hobgoblin tried to blackmail him with that knowledge. He stepped down as the Bugle's editor-in-chief.
Peter being smarter that Gargan also helps.
I'm thinking the Sinister Six has to include Scorpion and Chameleon, since they were set up in the previous films. We know Electro's going to be in there, too, so that's half the team down. I'm betting it'll also include Prowler as the Token Good Teammate, just leaving two open slots.
I think the Sinister Six has to have some brains behind the operation, and I figure that can either be Doc Ock or Hobgoblin, I'd prefer it to be Hobgoblin, both to pay off Ned and to have a new villain to live-action.
For the final slot, I'm guessing Kraven. If it is a team formed to hunt down criminal-at-large Spider-Man, that's Kraven's entire shtick, and they can get some fun out of him not even caring about bringing him in or any reward money, he just wants to hunt down Spider-Man for the sport.
So, my final Sinister Six team is Scorpion, Chameleon, Prowler, Electro, Kraven, and Hobgoblin.

I'd guess:
- Vulture
- Scorpion
- Mysterio
- Electro
- Chamaleon
- Kraven, Doc Ock or Hobgoblin.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Why would Vulture be in the Sinister Six? Last we saw of him, he was protecting Peter's identity from Scorpion. Is it just to have a Token Good Teammate? Because I think Prowler would fill that role much better, both in terms of character and forward plot progression.
Also, I'm like 90% sure Mysterio is actually dead for realsies.

That’s why Peter’s most dangerous threats are generally the more intelligent ones like Osborn & Ock. Cause they are actually intelligent enough to use their abilities to their full potential, compared to Electro who has the potential to be an Avengers-level threat but is too much of a moron to do so.
Huh that also explains why Flash Thompson is the best Venom. He’s a trained soldier who can think on his feet while every other Venom (including Scorpion) are nothing more than brutes and thugs.
Hell Spidey even pointed it out to Gargan when he was Venom. Guy is a total fucknugget as Scorpion & he’s still a total fucknugget even as Venom. Nothings changed even with added firepower.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Vulture has enough of a code of honor to keep Pete's identity secret but he has shown no indication of having moved on after Peter. Even if he somehow doesn't hold a grudge after Spidey, he'd promptly join a team like this if it meant a chance to be free from jail to be with his family and provide for them (his whole character's shtick). I think it'd be a lot more hassle to establish Aaron Davis as the Prowler (given he was specifically characterized as being against superpowered hijinks due collateral damage in Homecoming) than Vulture as one of the Six.
And even if Mysterio is 100% dead, his entire team is unaccounted for as is his tech. Mysterio showing up post-mortem via some nice bit of fakery is classic Mysterio.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."I'm thinking:
- Vulture
- Scorpion
- Shocker
- Mysterio (either back from the dead, or someone using his tech)
- Kraven
- Electro
Are going to end up as the Sinister Six in this continuity. That's all the villains we've had thus far, plus the two we know are coming up.
Given his more mastermind-esque leanings in the MCU, I'd figure Mysterio will take Ock's usual role as the one who brings them together.

That's the main advantage Peter has over guys like Sandman, Electro, Hydro-Man, etc.
They are powerful, but also dumb.
Lyra isn't a Jen villain or a villain at all. Jen was her legal guardian for a time too.

Disney+ updated the Marvel Studios intro for Black Panther to be a tribute for Chadwick Boseman
on what would have been his 44th birthday.

I'm different from all of you in that my idea for Doc Ock/Green Goblin is have him be a scientist named Otto Osborn and he becomes the octo-goblin... Perhaps that's a bit too out there. Combining both his arch-enemies would be interesting.
That's a great tribute :'(
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the mid

I should clarify I'm not thinking of Liv in solely that she was fantastic in Spider-Verse, but also because I'm kind of done with traditional takes on Spider-Man and his rogues. I don't need to see any more Norman Osborne, or Molina-esque Ocks.
