Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

But by working on Ultimates X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Ultimates, he really set the tone that the Ultimate universe would have, even as things somewhat chilled out after he left to make everyone in the 616 assholes instead.
That panel is the gift that keeps on giving

Forever liveblogging the AvengersIronic that the Millar period was the best part of the Ultimate-verse before Loeb ultimately ruined everything.
There was an attempt to a return to form afterwards but it never managed to regain the same original highs when Millar was writing.
Fucking Jeph Loeb, that fuck ruins everything.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Hey it was a high. Sales were at their highest & audience reception was generally positive.
Meanwhile Ultimates 3 was nonsense & Ultimatum was a complete disaster. Seriously I saw a video review of the former by Linkara, none of it made any fucking sense & was just an extended build-up to Ultimatum.
Say what you will about him but at least Millar had something of a story to tell.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Not to sound over-dramatic, but I'm pretty sure Loeb was actually given instructions to end it all. Which is why we got that travesty Ultimatum. But things limped on, mostly because Bendis was single-handedly keeping things afloat with Spider-Man.

Just Having FunUltimatum was intended to reboot the ultimate universe because editors felt sales were declining due to the nearly decade of continuity that the imprint had built up
The idea is that anyone that died up to ultimatum would not be part of the reboot
Pretty gutsy to actually go through considering they wiped out a lot of their popular types and that Spider Man was supposed to die in Ultimatum originally too
Obviously plans changed at some point and Ultimatum did not crisis on ultimate earth

Forever liveblogging the AvengersOh fuck I just now remembered another weird moment.
It was during the Hulk battle & Cap actually repeatedly called Hulk gay to rile the latter up & distract him.......... & it actually worked, Hulk did legitimately get pissed off at being called gay.
So the humor is befitting a 13 year-old.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Okay I just checked the Ultimate catalogue and now I understand why they must have felt the need for a reboot.

All the Ultimate comics released before Ultimatum. That is a lot of shit released in less than 10 years. A whole bunch of mini-series released alongside the actual main titles in-between.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Speaking of Ultimate
Honestly when I found out that Ultimate's Reed Richards had turned evil, I thought it would be the classic case of "He's evil for a" Mini-Arc "and then he's good again"
But not only did he not become good again, he actually became even more evil.
And to think that this is the same guy who was willing to sacrifice himself to prevent the zombies from reaching his world.

As Ultimate Peter would say...
EDIT: on the Ultimate Universe and every non-Spider being an ass
