Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Probably technically but its likely nothing more than a title at this point.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThere's a section called "Marvel Legacy Animation" at the bottom that seems to be in chronological order, and the MCU stuff is separated into Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3. Not sure about the live-action series stuff, though.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrI assume the official site
has all the Marvel media they have.
In terms of "Marvel Legacy Films", they have all the theatrical Fantastic Four films, and the X-Men and Wolverine films up to X-Men: Apocalypse. Everything that's rated R or was released after Apocalypse is not on Disney Plus.
Such a shame they don't have the Blade movies.
Ooooh they have some good cartoons though.
The 90's X-Men show, X-Men Evolution, Superhero Squad, even the obscure Silver Surfer show.
....... Huh Spider-Woman had her own cartoon?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I didn't know that either.
On another note, I was rewatching Ant-Man and the Wasp and when Louis is explaining to Cassie why Scott is under house arrest (in an otherwise funny scene, I admit) he tells her that Scott violated the Sokovia Accords.
But... the Sokovia Accords didn't actually get ratified, right? Because Zemo disguised as Bucky blew up the building with a car bomb or truck bomb right before T'Chaka was going to start speaking. So in legal terms you can't punish anyone for violating something that hasn't been signed into law (also apparently the UN has the power to write and ratify the accords which is ...suspect), at least I think not. I’m not even sure if it's retroactive because we don't hear about them being signed later or anything. So nobody violated the accords - sure, they aided and abetted Bucky, a known criminal (also brainwashed, but Cap didn't tell anyone that) and probably resisted arrest and destroyed private property, but they can't be prosecuted for breaking the Accords that ultimately didn't get passed. Am I misremembering? (And sure, it's only a few lines in Ant-Man 2 but it's a big part of Civil War).
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrThe Accords were probably ratified formally at another meeting later in the day or week. It's highly unlikely they'd let such an important piece of legislation slide, especially during the 2 years of Scott's house arrest.
The car bombing is why in real life the UN doesn't conduct meetings rooms with massive street view windows.

The UN can sign all the accords all it wants, (and these were clearly done off-screen, dialogue in various movies confirms it, as well as AOS) but it only matters if member states actually want to enforce it in their own borders.
And the United States clearly does.
Plus, Scott is a convicted felon, I believe. He has very little rights if law enforcement decides it wants to jam him up.
Yeah, I assume he would of officially been on probation during the events of Civil War (even though we never saw him check in with a probation officer on screen). So simply leaving San Francisco without his probation officer's permission would of been a serious offense, let alone leaving the country.
Really the only reason he was only sentenced to house arrest is because the actual existence of the other winter soldiers was considered mitigating circumstances and whoever was assigned to bring him in was willing to make a deal to bring in him and Clint.
Plus he wasn't really a conspirator, so he probably got a lighter sentence. Think of him like the guy who agrees to drive a friend to the airport for a favor, but then finds out once the favor's going down that he's actually the getaway driver for a robbery.
Cap did inform him that he would be breaking the law before he did it, but I assume his lawyer told him not to say that.
What's interesting is how much worse Hank and Hope got it than him. Especially the legally tenuous "they created the thing you used to break the law, so they're going to jail too" bit. But the fact that we don't know exactly what the Accords entail covers that part.

Possibly the government has just been waiting a long time for some pretext to seize Hank's research again, especially without Peggy or Howard there to keep the heat off of him.
Or possibly because of that time Hank compressed an office building into a singularity.
Forever liveblogging the Avengers"The German government was asked if they wanted to press charges but a representative said 'are you kidding? That was fuckin' dope.'"
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI always figured they blamed all that on Cross. It's not like he could say "no, it wasn't me."
"Yep, all the destruction of property and mayhem? Totally Cross covering his tracks or whatever. Who are you gonna believe? Me, merely an unpleasant old man, or the guy who literally tried to kill a kid?"

It cracks me up to think of Hank referring to himself as merely an unpleasant old man.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThere's a reason the only people who seem to actually like Hank are Scott (who is just a nice guy like that) and Hank's own wife (who avoided seeing him at hos crankiest and jerkiest by being trapped in the microverse). Maaaaybe Hope too, but not much and not all the time.

"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."

Endgame has better moments but Infinity War is the much better movie.
The legend has returned.
