Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I think it was a tie in to Avengers Academy because I remember those kids sassing him (although they come to respect him after seeing him actually in action)
Forever liveblogging the AvengersPump the hype brakes, people.
FandomWire is not the best source of news. Not nearly as bad as We Got This Covered or Cosmic Book News, but I'd hold my horses if I were any of you...
(Have Tobey and Andrew done anything since Spidey anyway? Last I heard, Tobey was in the Great Gatsby movie from 2013 and did narration for The Boss Baby and Andrew was...I actually don't know.)

Last I heard, he dissed the head of Sony for ASM 2's excessive executive meddling. Or maybe he was out sick and couldn't make it to the event that was supposed to announce ASM 3. The former was way more prominent, though.
I still think we're jumping onto the "Spidey 3 is live-action Spider-Verse" boat too fast and too early...

Yeah, clone saga is more likely
If I can just figure out a way to put home and clone in a title
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, given that this isn't corroborated by anyone, I'm gonna presume it's fake.
I mean, just because neither of them have been in blockbusters in a while doesn't mean they're out of work. Andrew had Silence and Hacksaw Ridge just 2 years out from ASM 2 and I'm pretty sure Tobey has done smaller films and television.
Also yeah, I'd believe it if it were Variety, the Hollywood Reporter or some other reputable paper.
As a rule of thumb, the best way to tell if a report is fake is to check online and see if the story is getting widely reported elsewhere. It's not unheard of for a less credible source to get a scoop, but even if they do if the story is credible (especially if its as big as this one would have been) you can bet that other sources will be reporting it as well within a couple hours.
But if it's been hours, and the only site corroborating the story is WeGotThisCovered (as is the case now)? Definitely not real.

Fandomwire broke several stories before they became widespread. Casting of second Batwoman, JSA in Black Adam, Barbara Gordon in the third season of Titans etc. In many instances, it took weeks before some of these were officially reported.
So yeah, I'd hold back on saying something is 'definitely fake' just because it doesn't follow a certain 'procedure'.
There are many, many instances of spoilers being spilt on the internet only to be met by dismissal, and then people act shocked when they come true without any real mention from the press or official news sites all the way from production to premiere.

Finally finished watching Endgame (yes, I know, I'm late to the party) and I have a few things to say, in no particular order.
- Does Valkyrie being the Queen of Asgard really matter now that it's a fishing village and not space magic land?
- Whether Black Widow dying was fridging or not, I don't know, but I will just say that she was a Token Girl for the Avengers and killing her reduced the number of people in the "Girl Power" shot by one, which was not a great move representation-wise if showing off female representation was the shot's intended effect
- You'd think there would be some kind of garbage disposal service after five years, but ...apparently not, since bags are on the streets. Even weirder because only half the trash is being produced (and sure, it could have been random chance that all the people in the industry got snapped, but Occam's Razor says probably not).
- Paul Rudd is a gift to this movie and provides some much-needed seriousness and appropriate levity
Things like that were the reason why I preferred Infinity War to Endgame.
Endgame just had way too many things that didn't really make much sense or were solved in an unsatisfactory manner.
Plus, way less character focus, with many characters only being there for the slugfest at the end.

As I recall, all of those instances were corroborated within the day.
It's been days and it's still only We Got This Covered who is corroborating the story, which means news outlets have had more than enough time to verify the information and get on the story themselves, but have chosen not to. It's fake, mon.

I've mainly come to prefer Infinity War for having more of the Guardians of the Galaxy, for good or ill. Which is admittedly just a bit petty of me. But also it's better to look at and the fight scene on Titan is IMO the best action scene between both movies.

I recall there was a later comic where someone pointed out Spidey could get around that problem by getting paid through shell companies. And in one She-Hulk arc, he actually did sue the Daily Bugle and would've won, except his lawyer insisted on trying Peter Parker too and Spidey not very intelligently dropped the case instead of just telling his lawyer to leave Peter alone.
