Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series showed just how dangerous Electro could be if he was actually competent.
It's not the bad guy having a kid that's weird so much as the realization that someone had to fuck that.

Guess some women are just into murderous bigots with weird skin conditions.
Electro pretty much has to be an idiot given the vast difference in power between him and Spider-Man. If he were a Fantastic Four or Avengers villain he'd be both powerful and smart.

Yeah he gets a surprisingly sad Alas, Poor Villain send off where it's revealed that he just wanted to use the Cosmic Cube to go back in time, prevent Cap from freezing, and then his parents (Steve and his then sweetheart, Gail) could marry and raise him themselves since he utterly loathed his life forced to be a solder even from a young age.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."In his case it was at least more understandable than with other people, as his big plan was undoing all of this.
He basically thought "Fuck it, nothing here will exist for much longer anyway, why should I not use every method available to achieve my goal?".

Comics Electro is interesting as a character inasmuch as he's an idiot when it comes to his true potential. He could be someone on the level of Magneto, a team wrecker and literally global threat... Instead he's a walking bug zapper.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."
