Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I was thinking the same. A bit of Enforced Method Acting by way of Actor-Shared Background or something, maybe.

My stories on AO3.I find it kinda amusing that Tony didn't actually kill any of his films'/Avengers's big bads until snapping Thanos away. Plenty of henchmen, but none of the main baddies.
Pepper killed Stane and Killian, Vanko killed Vanko, and Vision killed Ultron.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! Not really accurate. Pepper killed Stane under Tony's instructions and the blast that he and Rhodes generated is what actually kills Vanko. He just triggered the self-destruct before he died. And since Tony did create Vision, he does have a hand in Ultron's death.

Spiderman activating his Instant Kill mode in Endgame felt to me like a combination of Godzilla Threshold with Chekovs Gun. That mode was a running joke in Homecoming, but it was the only equipment of the suit we never got to see working, and if there was one occasion that warranted it it was this battle.
Then again, they were fighting aliens. What Measure Is a Non-Human? has been a trope for some time in the comics too.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.Not just aliens, but the Outriders, which seem to be more like alien attack hounds than intelligent life. For however much that is worth on the What Measure Is a Non-Human? scale.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Heh this is funny.

Our new Ms Marvel here rated Captain Marvel 2-stars on Letterbox.
She probably got some major publicity from the climactic battle on Earth vs Thanos, but my assumption was that Captain Marvel 2 would have a modern day adventure and we see Kamala cameo there as a fan of hers.
Curious how they're going to establish the "Ms. Marvel" codename, as it's a moniker Carol's never used in the MCU.

Heh. While I enjoyed Captain Marvel it did suffer from a lot of Franchise Original Sin-related blandness so I find that rating pretty agreeable.

It's a solid 7/10. I actually think it's just about the best solo origin movie we've gotten since Iron Man 1 (not counting Got G or Black Panther) by far.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)I really enjoyed Captain Marvel. It's not a groundbreaker but it's a great popcorn film with a satisfying emotional payoff.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I didn't have any specific gripes with it but I found the overall product somewhat insipid. It feels like a Phase 1 origin movie that time-travelled to Phase 3. Still good but not really groundbreaking.
