Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Man, that's awkward considering One More Day ended up happening because Strange wasn't able to cure a bullet wound.

If I remember correctly, the reason for magic not working on May was because her soul was ready to die, but Peter couldn't accept that it was her time. Mephisto was literally the only one who would prolong her life. Real great way to end the marriage, Marvel.

The reason was he couldn’t let things go, accept the passage of time. A fitting metaphor for the comic industry.
If you had to choose between letting someone who raised you die / giving up your marriage ...
...in the moment I'd assume most people would struggle with that.
There's palpable irony - Uncle Ben died because Peter made a selfish choice, and now May will die if he doesn't make the selfish choice.

It’s a moral quandary that loses water because May tells Peter to let her die already
She’s been eighty for sixty years. She’s unbelievably tired
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, Peter dipped a bit into Anakin Skywalker territory pretty heavily in OMD - speaking very heavily in the voice of writers and editors who were afraid to let any part of the Status Quo go.
Man, the behind the scenes subtext of that story is so transparent. It comes off almost like a tantrum: "if you're going to change how Spider-Man is supposed to be, why not just go and kill off Aunt May, huh? And since we're obviously not going to do that, lets get rid of new changes like that marriage." Ugh.
Meanwhile, in a story with actually mature writing...

Not to mention the selling your wife and your unborn kid. If Aunt May and Uncle Ben knew about that one, they'd be so disappointed.
In these stories, the best you can do is to walk back on them ASAP. Or just tear Peter apart over this mess. Whatever works.

Wake me up at your own risk.@Known Unknown Anakin Skywalker territory? Sorry, could you elaborate?

In the comics Stephen Strange is pretty ashamed of his Dr. Jerk past.
Though it should be noted that in the recent comics he made a Deal with the Devil to get his hands fully restored so he could go back to being a (hopefully less jerkish) surgeon.
TBF, he did it because he needed to save a kid's life, and he needed his old surgical skills to do it.

Disgusted, but not surprised
