Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Ryan Coogler wrote a rather touching statement
on Boseman's passing.
I've always liked Boseman as an actor, but reading up on him now that he's gone makes it clear that he was an incredible person too. What a horrible loss.
One thing I wonder is how they managed to keep Luke, I Am Your Father levels of secrecy around his having cancer.

I know it has been two days now, but the news of Chadwick Boseman's death has been hitting me hard. Not to be too personal on the internet, but it's been quite triggering as someone struggles with serious anxiety that is directly linked to thanatophobia. 2020 just ain't been it, y'all. For real.
However, it's also just been devastating as a fan. Chadwick Boseman's portrayal of T'Challa meant the world to me, as well as his portrayal of other real life black heroes. Blackness, as beautiful and wonderful as it is, is often met with exhausting realities. Yet somehow, Black Panther managed to be such an encapsulating moment of joy that I remember very vividly. Words cannot express, as a black comic book nerd, what it meant to see a powerful, kind, compassionate, and loving character like T'Challa on screen. And from what I understand, that was all Chadwick.
There will never be another Chadwick Boseman. The man was a hero both on-screen and off-screen. Fighting his battle with cancer all while continuing to be an inspiration and a phenomenal talent. And even in death, this man continues to inspire.
I feel so much pride and so much pain all at once.

I like the suit, but it's missing the blue of a Captain America look. I get that Bucky has blue but no red and white, but I really want Falcon to keep the shield.
It occurred to me that Tony's pretty much the only "super" character that Natasha's ever successfully lied to or interrogated. Loki gave as good as he got, but T'Challa absolutely destroyed her attempt to analyze him (especially knowing "Shuri, Okoye, and Ayo can handle this while i just sit here and wait for a couple minutes").
I will read Coogler's tribute momentarily.
I agree. It looks like the costume is deliberately devoid of Captain America elements, and my expectation/hope is that at the end of the season, he'd wear something like this
◊ instead.
Looking forward to seeing Falcon America in live action....
...did I just invent an awesome Fan Nickname for him? Cause I feel like I did.
One Strip! One Strip! You know, guys, I only realize it now, but.... I kinda like Sam's Cap costume better than Steve. I mean, neither are really my favourite superhero costume type, but I feel like Sam's is a bit more interesting. And I really like that he wears a Captain America outfit that's its own style rather than just the same with slight variations.
I like Captain Falcon's comics costume insofar that Steve's is very campy and a grandfather-clause remnant of a campier era. That said I think the Civil War-onward film version of Cap's costume are nigh-impossible to beat, as it's the perfect way of modernizing Cap's costume into something that both retains the classic design while also looking practical and badass.
Sam's pre-Snap costumes are pretty good, as they're basically his hyper-practical Ultimates costume with a few throwbacks to the red of his 616 design, but trying to compromise with a hyper-comicky 616 recolor of his military outfit strikes me as ill-suited. Better to pick one and stick with it, going whole-hog.

Honestly, i worry that him doing all those movies meant his condition worsened.
Like Colon Cancer is beatable in early stages. I have a couple of relatives who thankfully beat it.
