Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Holy shit, I did not expect this at all.
I’ll admit I’m extremely curious to what this will mean for future Black Panther films, but that can definitely wait.
God, way too young...
Oh God! Natural light!RIP.
I do wonder how prepared everyone involved in the MCU was for this possibility. Black Panther was really being built up as one of the new main leads now that most of the original MCU heroes retired... If they weren't prepared for this, it might throw a real wrench in their plans. It's a damn shame we won't be seeing where they would have went with the character in any case. Fuck cancer.

Motherfucker! I'd say this year can go to hell, but it's clear that it already has!!
Leviticus 19:34You know, I recall seeing a random article like 9 months ago talking about Boseman losing a scary amount of weight. I didn't pay it much mind, figuring it was paparazzi stuff, but it does have a different connotation now.
Always sad to hear, he probably kept it hidden for both privacy and not to burden his fans with that knowledge.
Damn, that sucks. Yeah, I was so looking forward to T'Challa leading the MCU, or being one of the new leads of the MCU. Maybe they'll have Shuri replace him. Man, that's rough. How would they even handle it? Just have him die off-screen between films, so soon after his character was brought back in Endgame?
You know what's startling? This happened on Jackie Robinson Day note and what would've been Black Panther co-creator Jack Kirby's 103rd birthday.
EDIT: Forget the second passage. I should probably go to bed already.

Just heard the news. Damn, Black Panther was one of my favorite MCU movies. And leading man.
There was a certain seriousness it took with it's subject material that elevated it above the other movies for me, and T'Challa was one of the most charismatic and dignified leads in the MCU even if his sister would say otherwise.
Chadwick Boseman will be missed.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Everyone in Hollywood is pouring one out for Mr. Boseman.
But I think one of the most heartfelt of these comes from Taika Waititi.
"Takoto mai rā e Āriki." is Maori for "Lie down, Lord."
One day.
The sun has set on the reign of a king. But long may he reign, nonetheless.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."

I rarely post here (usually just a lurker), but like all of you, I was incredibly shocked and heartbroken by this news. In a weird coincidence - not sure if it's Harsher in Hindsight or Heartwarming in Hindsight, perhaps both - I just happened to watch Black Panther (2018) earlier today, a few hours before getting this news, as part of my chronological (by release date) rewatching of every MCU movie. RIP, Chadwick.
