Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Capitan marvel have the same problem as thor which it also have the same problem as green lanter: it have this kinda sorta epic chararter and...it stuck it on earth, that is not compeling, most people just sort expect the moment when she finally got her power and do awsome stuff.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"You misspelled “Valkyrie”.
Anyway WandaVision probably won’t fix her issue of being a wildly different character each installment but maybe it’ll be an actually interesting character this time around.

Just finished watching Thor. It was surprisingly good, though I do have a few issues with it - namely, Jane and Thor's relationship felt rushed, Odin isn't that impressive (the "the horrors of WAR" scene is a good example), and Sif and the Warriors Three don't do much:
I did like that Thor finally got proved worthy when he told the Destroyer (and by extension Loki) that he was okay with sacrificing himself, but to not harm the civilians because they're innocent. Also, the damage is confined to one town, and Thor and friends presumably cleared all the people out to safety before the giant robot started shooting lasers from its face, so my Willing Suspension of Disbelief that no civilians were harmed can actually hold up, which is rare for a Marvel movie.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrCapitan marvel have the same problem as thor which it also have the same problem as green lanter: it have this kinda sorta epic chararter and...it stuck it on earth, that is not compeling, most people just sort expect the moment when she finally got her power and do awsome stuff.
Kinda agree. I accepted it in both cases because it was the first movies for each, but much like Dark World was a letdown, I really hope Captain Marvel 2 will focus more on the space stuff.
On a note, I really don't get why so many people got mad about Captain Marvel getting her own movie before Black Widow did. I mean... why does that even matter? That's still a new female superhero movie, and Black Widow will now have her own movie anyway, so...
@Altris: If you think that Sif and the Warriors Three don't contribute much to Thor, just wait till you see them continue to not contribute in the rest of the films.
Hell, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was the last time Sif was in anything. She's been MIA since season 2.
Word of God says she's still alive, but I don't she was a part of the Asgardian refugees that made it to Earth.
The issue with Captain Marvel is that she pulled a No-Sell on Thanos. Future movies would either have to be set in the past, be highly entertaining in how she plows through oposition, or have the stakes revolve around personal conflict that can't be solved by outpunching it.
It’s okay, when she comes back to earth she’ll learn that a mad scientist created a genetic chimera of her and the other heroes and she’ll have to train Monica Rambeau to obtain an even higher level of power to defeat it
