Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Disgusted, but not surprised
x3: Not to mention Cloak & Dagger (2018)'s New Orleans setting. Arguably Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D goes all over the world, universe and time.
Interestingly, Marvel Studios has partnered up
The fact that it's specifically Marvel Studios implies that it's MCU-related, but most likely unrelated to Marvel's What If...? (handled by Squeeze Animation Studios).

Animated tv shows. DC's record on the live-action front is a lot more mixed due their extensive deal with CW and their types of show.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Marvel has had good animated shows.
I don't need to mention both The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and The Spectacular Spider-Man. The problem is they refused to stick with them, and then created products that were patently inferior. Well Spectacular was done in by rights issues due to Sony having a tight death grip on Spidey and Disney wanting to be as different from anything the latter has done as possible. I don't know what the muffins happened to kill EMH.
Now they've had other good series as well, but some of them took a while. The first seasons of the old 90's Iron Man and FF series were cheesy, but they took a huge jump in quality in the second season. X-Men: Evolution took a while to find it's footing, but as time went on, I came to see it as possibly truest to the themes of the series.
Marvel can make great series, they just need to focus on...well making good series instead of tying into their movies.

And while we at it:
I recall someone (maybe on this thread) saying this opening says everything you need to know about the Four....and all without being Grammatical.
To be clear the current era of Marvel animation started with the cancellation of Earth's Mightiest Heroes & beginning of Ultimate Spider-Man.
Since then we got Avenger's Assemble, Guardians of the Galaxy, & the current Spider-Man cartoon most of which mediocre AF.
Does not help that the Marvel Animation studio got hit with a ton of downsizing & other bad stuff I recall.
So this decade has just been a near absolute crapfest for Marvel animation.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
x4 I thought EMH was canned due to poor ratings/toy sales and a desire to be more MCU- adjacent? While understandable from a business perspective it does mean that if you want something that isn't MCU flavored you have to look at old stuff (since the Avengers and Guardians cartoons are taking cues so heavily from the films and Spider-Man shows are...mixed).
On the subject of Marvel Animation, I always had a soft spot for Iron Man: Armored Adventures. Teen Tony may be weird but it has some good stories and I think maybe some of the best versions of his rogues gallery, like Gene/The Mandarin.

I never actually hated Ultimate Spider-Man. I thought it was a average cartoon at first that grew into something legitimately good by it's final run. I can't speak for the new one however.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadI couldn’t get through the first season. It was just too obnoxious. Especially when Deadpool showed up and had to out obnoxious how Deadpool lite peter was already being
On the other hand I stuck with seasons and seasons of Avengers Assemble in a vain hope for quality. So my priorities are not great.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe last season of Avengers Assemble is kind of decent if you pretend it's a Black Panther cartoon... because that's what it essentially turned into.
Ultimate Spiderman did kinda grow some nice facial hair as it went on.
Still not great, but vastly improved.
Avengers becoming a Black Panther season in it's final season was fine with me. T'challa rocks, and I regret not reading more of his stuff.
One Strip! One Strip!T'Challa was already pretty amazing in EMH (not that I complain).
I dropped after the first few episodes of Ultimate Spiderman. Though I'd like watch the episode with FitzSimmons someday.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.Hold on, *is* DC actually doing better in the animated tv show department? The only shows I can think of are Young Justice, Harley Quinn, and Teen Titans Go!.
I guess Young Justice—despite a relatively okay comeback season—is pretty good in comparison to Marvel’s current animated lineup, but also it’s kind of hard to get to and not exactly mainstream like it was back in the day. And while I haven’t seen the Harley Quinn show, TTG is extremely divisive...despite being popular with children.

Granted I would have like stuff from the moving seen in the netflix show, at times it really feel like watching and alternate universe.
