Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Edited it.
It's the same thing with Juggernaut being a member of the Brotherhood of Mutants, really.
Many things become Common Knowledge through adaptations.

No excuse for Bruce though
Forever liveblogging the AvengersTo be fair, the MCU wasn't the first adaptation to have Tony be the one to create Ultron.

That's very true. And Next Avengers predates Age of Ultron by a few years I believe (a small few I think).
One Strip! One Strip!I think the only reason why Hank was chosen to make Ultron is because as a robot Ultron possibly needed an origin and Hank was a scientist and more ‘expendable’ than Tony
Also I think there was the thing about him studying not a man not a dragon Dragon Man but I don’t know if that plot was intended to set anything up
Or whether Ultron was initially intended to have any connection to the Avengers
Forever liveblogging the AvengersBack before Captain Marvel established that Carol was the inspiration for the group, I remember thinking it would've been interesting for Hank and Janet to be founding members of a 60's-70's era version of the team in the past, like a covert group who saved the world League of Extraordinary Gentlemen style, but went unknown by the world minus the highest level of SHIELD clearance.
So they could have the original Human Torch (that easter egg in Captain America is still unfired
), and some cool characters who would otherwise not be adapted in the modern movies.
But it's kind of a wonky idea, tbf.

@Known Unknown: I had similar thoughts. Might be too late to do it now (seems it seems a bit weird Hank never mentions them in Ant-Man 2). They could do it with a different name, like Invaders and Defenders (though the latter would be a knife twist in those mourning the netflixverse).
"All you Fascists bound to lose."MCU Ultron is really underwhelming compared to comics Ultron since MCU Ultron is "MCU Tony without empathy" as opposed to comics Ultron who is "comics Hank without empathy".
And since comics Hank is...really messed up...that is reflected in comics Ultron being one of the most psychopathic examples of Robotic Psychopath ever.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI don't think Marvel would do a 60's era Avengers story. That would feel like stepping on the toes of that other Avengers franchise.
Yeah, the 60's Avengers series had really little to do with superheroes. It was an extremely tongue in cheek crime and spy series with occasional science fiction, but it would really take a lot for a Marvel series to be considered close to it.
