Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Eh, Jean never actually cheated on him. At least not in the mainline comics. The closest she got to that was when she kissed Logan once and admitted that she felt something for him even if she loved Scott. And this was during the whole "affair" between Emma and Scott.

Disgusted, but not surprisedThe relationship dynamics between Jean and male X-Men have always been messed up. Let's not forget that Xavier had feelings for Jean too, which is problematic for many reasons.
The Ultimate version of Xavier was actually better about this because he had the guts to confess he felt this way to Scott before his (apparent) death rescuing Jean from Cable.

Disgusted, but not surprisedHer relationship with Bobby might be the most healthy given he's the only one who wasn't attracted to her if memory serves.
Then again, 616 Xavier had enough of a conscience to not pursue a relationship with his students unlike Ultimate Xavier. It's just that Ultimate Xavier never pursued a relationship with Jean.

Xavier being this grandfatherly, kind figure in pretty much all adaptations is also one of these things that became Common Knowledge.
In the comics he could be an enormous dick.

Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianBecause it was a road trip from Brazil to NYC.
Crossing the American continent(s). I wanted to use an adjective that could convey that, without changing the structure of the title (to something like "Hulk's Incredible Road Trip"). But yeah, it was dumb and a bit of a stretch.
Random question regarding Moon Knight:
Did Warren Ellis contribute to anything noteworthy when he wrote Moon Knight?
Because people have recently been accusing him of being a bad, icky person (don't make me go into specifics, please), so it might not be a great idea if Marvel Studios used aspects that were written by a creep.
(Also, it probably puts a damper on getting anything resembling Nextwave anytime soon...)

Yeah, that news of Ellis really bummed me out. If you would ask who is my favorite comic book writer I would say Ellis in a heartbeat, now I'm not sure.
As for your question, his MK run is considered a revitalizer of the character. I definitely do think we're going to see some aspects, particularly the Mr. Knight persona, and I can see the origin he gave to MK being the one used (that he has brain damage that Khonshu used to enter his mind and fragment his personalities).
Speaking of Moon Knight, recent comics gave him a considerable power boost.
The nature of his power as a champion of a moon deity allows him to beat the crap out of Thor by taking control of Mjolnir. Apparently this is because Mjolnir was forged with uru, which Moon Knight reveals is actually moon rock (it's an ore from the first moon in the universe).
Disgusted, but not surprised
Moon Knight is empowered by a Moon god. So yes, it means power over anything moon related. It doesn't just mean Earth's Moon.
It helps that they were also fighting on Earth's Moon at the time, which gave Moon Knight even more power.

Forever liveblogging the Avengers

Pretty much all of Mystique's relationships with anyone besides Irene Adler were screwed up. Just look at how she treats her surrogate daughter Rogue. And Raven actually loves Rogue. She's simply too screwed up to show it in a remotely healthy manner.
At one point she decided to test Rogue's relationship with Gambit by trying to seduce Gambit as a new Xavier Institute student named Foxx. Who does that? And Raven genuinely thought she was looking out for Rogue by doing this.
