Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

They should. They're not all-powerful, especially not when they're a tiny remnant begging for refuge on another race's planet. They should care if public sentiment blames them for Earth's problems, in case some humans decide to act on their paranoia and eliminate the perceived threat.
And, y'know, caring about what other people think of you even when they're physically weaker than you is the lesson Thor was meant to learn in the first movie. Not caring what humans think because they're lesser is the mindset behind Asgard's imperialist and colonialist era and why all Asgardians could be considered complicit in Odin's crimes. It's not an attitude they should hold on to, particularly if we're supposed to think that they've collectively paid for their bloody past.
Yeah but humans are just ..... human.
They are generally worth less than the crap that comes out of a dog.
Other species though, they are worth consideration, even the Kree. But humans, eh they can go fuck themselves.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."While the Asgardians just showing up in Norway asking for refuge would be of global interest, I fail to see how it would be a legal issue for any outside of Norway's governing body. Assuming they entered the country from one of their borders, albeit one not often seen as one, it falls on Norway to make that judgement. As far as I know, we dont have global laws governing how we treat extraterrestrial immigration or refugees, and the Organization most likely to have handled that got HYDRA'd .

It's true the current generation of Asgardians might be in no mood for any conflict and just want to live a quiet life, but what about their descendants? They won't have had humility pounded into them, and might feel less gratitude to humanity for taking them in. I'm not talking about them trying to conquer the Earth or anything, but I seem to remember there was some conflict in the original New Asgard storyline, so it would be odd if none of that came through in the MCU.
On the topic of descendants, now I'm wondering if humans and Asgardians could have children. Ego was able to have a kid with humans, so it's not entirely out of the question, but then he could alter his humanoid form on the genetic level. I can't remember, have there been any other Half-Human Hybrids in the MCU? Would be interesting in any event, to see someone split between two very different cultures, with superpowers for a human yet a weakling for an Asgardian.

How future generations of Asgardians behave on Earth would likely be dependent on a) how much the surviving Asgardians retain their "proud warrior race" thing, and b) the relationships sovereign powers on Earth foster with the Asgardians. If the Asgardians have predominantly accepted their new lives as common folk, the new Asgardian leadership does not stir any jingoistic sentiments, and Earth's governments don't antagonize the Asgardians, then I'd wager most of the later-born Asgardians would get along fairly well with humanity.

It cannot be understated just how much of their power they have lost. They had pretty much nothing but the clothes on their backs when they fled Asgard.
From what we've seen of them, the surviving Asgardians seem less bitter about what they've lost and are just grateful to still be alive. It helps that they have access to pizza, beer, and Fortnite.

Disgusted, but not surprisedSif is still alive. Loki (disguised as Odin) sent her away to other realms as a busy mission.
According to the creators she got snapped for 5 years but is back now. So if Taika or the actress were interested, they could bring back Sif.
Also, other realms like Vanaheim and Alfheim still exist. We don’t know if some Asgardians were visiting there or retreated there during Hel’s massacre.
According to Rocket and Hulk’s conversation on the way to see Thor, the surviving Asgardians are just grateful to have a home at this point.

Well and maybe 2012 Loki will eventually end up in the main timeline after his Disney+ Series.
Though this version is still a villain.

. I do hope that they do give the Netflix characters another chance on Disney plus someday.
There's also that Spider-Man story where he and Loki team up because one of Loki's descendants was in mystical trouble.
Spider-Man was surprised he had descendants, and Loki said something to the tune of "I'm a Norse god. It's what we do."

Heck, racism could even work in their favor. The world just found out about Wakanda having super-advanced technology that makes everyone else on Earth look like primitive savages. In the wake of that revelation, I can definitely see certain elements being ecstatic at having another super-advanced civilization on Earth, one that isn't predominately black.
