Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

J.K. Simmons recently revealed he's signed on to appear as J. Jonah Jameson in more Spider-Man movies.
...Assuming they'll actually want to use him:
Anyone whose relative aging would prove awkward for the movies will have been snapped.
Otherwise any statement one way or another should be considered tentative.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI mentioned this before, but assuming the release date for Black Widow won't change, this will be the first year since 2012 that only a single MCU film will be released in theaters. If the date is pushed back to 2021, it'll be the first time since 2009 that there hasn't been a single MCU film released in theaters at all.
I imagine they decided May was snapped because they didn’t want to have to deal with the sheer emotional trauma it would involve with her character.
Oh God! Natural light!Yeah, that's the easy way out. Don't want to deal with that nasty emotional trauma? Just say that she got snapped as well and no change to her character is necessary.
So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrTo be fair, making fundamental changes to characters in one series based off of events in a separate series is kind of an iffy move, even when done in universe-based writing.
If May's character is going to go through major changes, it would be in a Spider-Man movie. You'd only see the character's story getting big alterations in different movies if the Spider-Man movies were done, a la Tony and Steve getting taken places once their solo film series were over.

I saw "Hawkeye" trending on Twitter. I thought it was something relating to the MCU resuming filming, to at least have something positive about today.
Nope.
A man with a machete and bow and arrow attempted to kill protestors in Salt Lake City while screaming "All Lives Matter", but was caught on video from several angles and stopped.
In a more meta commentary, it's amusing how he got stopped because he forgot that Hawkeye's M.O involves parkouing all over the place. This guy stood his ground and thus people were able to catch him fairly quickly.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."

If you think about it. Wakanda should be the only nation in the entire world NOT to be chaotic immediately following the snap.
They were there at ground zero and knew the stakes. They’re fully aware who caused the snap. They know the who, where, why and how. No one else had that privilege.
While every other country would be screaming “it’s the end of the world”. With lots and lots of political power grabs for the survivors. With an overload of terror, confusion, uncertainty, and religious apocalyptic anarchy.
During T’Challa’s ceremony, M’Baku was the only one that challenged. So post-snap, I would hope he brought some stability to Wakanda. I’m sure if he became king, but I would hope he worked closely with Ramona for the reasons wanderlustwarrior stated.
Some of my friends hoped during the 5 year gap, that Ramona, M’Baku and Okoye worked closely to ensure a stable leadership.
I agree that would be fine, if they knew T’Challa and Shuri would only be gone 5 years. But as far as they knew, they were never coming back.
So I hope Black Panther 2 tackles who became the undisputed leader during that Rome.
