Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Liefeld was the "creator" of Deadpool. He came up with the idea of a clear rip-off of DC's Deathstroke (Deadpool/Deathstroke, Wade/Slade Wilson) and tried to sell it off as a cool and edgy character. Fabian Nicieza and later Joe Kelly were the guys to really receive credit for creating Deadpool, because they were the ones to look at this chaotic mess of a character and decided to make him a mockery of everything Liefeld wanted him to represent.
So in summary: Nicieza and Kelly created Deadpool. Liefeld helped.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."![]()
Or if we want to get more technical, Liefeld came up with the initial idea of Deadpool, but Kelly and Nicieza were the ones who made Deadpool as we all know him as.
It's just another example of what I want to call "The Bill Finger Scenario". Yes, for the longest time, Bob Kane was credited as the sole creator of Batman (at least until 2016), but he only came up with the name of Batman. Bill Finger was the one who came up with everything else regarding Batman.
Basically, Liefeld is just blowing nothing more than a load of hot air. Deadpool 3 will be fine without his involvement (as miniscule as it was).
EDIT: Needed to do a massive change.

Bump.
The Internet: Hey, it's like super cool how Mahershala Ali is going to be the MCU's Blade, but with all of Hollywood being put on pause, it kinda makes the wait to see him in something be more agonizing...
Mahershala: S'up, everyone?
Mahershala posted an art of himself as Blade on his Instagram. Might we be hearing something new eventually?
I wonder if there'll be a bit where they CGI opening eyes over Ali's own eyes after he accidentally falls asleep for real.

have alleged that Shang Chi will have the ability to make duplicates of himself in the movie.

I guess that would be accurate to (recent) comics
. Which could conceivably have been written in order to give him something more to stand out with.

Internet: Man, I can't wait for Chloe Bennet's Quake to transfer over to the MCU and Disney+!
Chloe Bennet: That ain't it, chief.
It's looking even more likely that the TV shows save for Agent Carter are set in some parallel version of the MCU. I mean, it was looking that way ever since Mahershala Ali got cast as Blade, but this is probably another nail in the coffin.
I just handwaved this as Cottonmouth being an Identical Grandson to Blade.

Back when I was still riled up over Skye's Mary Sue-ish status, I liked to joke that the real reason they did not transfer Quake to the MCU was that she would have made the fight against Thanos ridiculously easy for the Avengers to win.
But yeah, seems most TV shows will slowly slide out of canon. Which is a shame, given the pains they had gone to to keep AoS close to movie continuity in the first seasons.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.I mean, season 5 did try to tie-into Avengers: Infinity War, explicitly mentioning Thanos and showing the last few episodes were occurring the same time as the events of the film.
Then season 6 came it didn't follow up on that. It clearly states it takes place a year after the last season, so it should've taken place post-Snap. But everything's fine. No mention of half of all life in the universe dying, not a single character is mentioned to have been snapped away, nothing. It's weird, and it feels like the writers weren't told what was going to happen during Endgame. Either that, or they were only vaguely told "they're going to fix it using time travel" and severely misinterpreted that to mean the Reset Button was going to be pressed.
My only guess is that the time travel shenanigans during the show ended up stranding them in an alternate time-line, and that's why things are so different? Either way, it's a bit of a shame most of the show has been written off.
Agents of Shield would have been a great place to explore the effects of the Snap but by that point the show was doing its own stuff which is honestly better for the show
Forever liveblogging the AvengersApparently Blade's full name is Eric Stokes Brooks, so presumably, he is related to Cottonmouth in some manner.
I say apparently because although Wikipedia lists "Stokes" as Blade's middle name and I saw someone bring that up on Reddit, I'm not versed in the character enough to know whether Blade's middle name has always been Stokes, or if this is the result of someone "rogue editing" to justify Ali being cast as both characters.
I kind of suspect the latter because I see a lot more sites identify Blad as being named "Eric Brooks" than I do see ones using the "Eric Stokes Brooks" name.
On the other hand though, it would be clever if his middle name was "Stokes", as that would be a nice Shout-Out to Bram Stoker.
Can someone confirm either way?

Technically speaking comics Blade is actually British (by birth at least) though he's spent so much longer in the USA by now he's American culturally and in terms of accent and so on.
Which does not mean he can't be related to Cottonmouth but suggests that if he is, it's pretty distant. And of course all previous film Blades were truly American so they may well just go with that again.

"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."I'm vaguely imagining Blade being on an episode of PBS' Finding Your Roots.

I've heard the news and people reacting to it,most of is "Don't believe him"
