Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I'd say a good chunk of the known universe: Nova Corps, Kree Empire, the Marauders, the people on Knowhere, Asgard, Earth... Of course, maybe he would need to have an epiphany in the end and decide to reset everything, a bit like in the comics.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.Whats funny is that the Nova Corp aren't doing much better in the comics in recent decade either.
They've been going downhill since Xandar was wiped off the map of space by the Annihilation Wave. And then the several attempts to rebuild all died or whatever so now we have a bunch of glorified mall cops in silly uniforms with no super powers who have no jurisdiction and basically no sway or influence.
Dick Rider still is going around being all Nova-y with the powers. And there's Sam Nova but he doesn't listen to the Corp at all because they confiscated his helmet for awhile.
Most of the rank and file are just guys in uniforms with guns who are also criminals who skim off the top because they're the only ones who would sign up for the no-hope cause that the Nova Corp currently are.
The movie Novas come off better. At least they were organized. They didn't have superpowers but they had some neat ships. They had actual authority and presence.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe Novas being a shadow of themselves is brought up in the recent Got G Comics where Richard goes to the Semi-Retired Got G for help when yet ANOTHER galaxy spanning threat shows up since the Got G is the only Functional Team still ALIVE at the moment. The Novas got almost wiped out to a man during the last threat.
Which presents an interesting conundrum for adaptation. Do we present the Corps as they were, or do we present them as they are?
Thanos smashing Xandar has potential to be the impetus for the modern day depiction, with the Corps fractured and the shining beacon of law in the universe no longer having such sway and influence. But at the same time, they haven't actually introduced any Novas of note yet, so it might be awkward to try and introduce Dick Rider or Sam after that event.
And trying to say that they were picked up on Earth and recruited to join the Nova Corps before Thanos hit Xandar, then flashing forward to the present? Well, that would feel kinda rehashy, because "recruited by space aliens as a child and then flash forward to modern day" is basically the exact same setup we already had for Peter Quill.
...
They could take a third option and have Quill become a Nova.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. We've already adapted out the possibility of the "Emperor Quill" Story since J-Son got swapped to Ego and Peter is no longer a Prince of Sparlax, but Peter feeling lost in the Guardians thanks to the 5 year skip might be tempted to team up with various comic named Novas and restart the Nova Corps.
Would make sense they need all the teams they can get to try and get the Galaxy back on its feet post Snap
....
On the one hand, he's saved the universe twice (and is half celestial), so he might actually be useful to have. Quill's already going around fighting the bad shit in the universe and getting paid for it, so outside our having to do things by the (Nova Corps) book, it might not be all that different from his current status.
....That being said, he's still Peter Quill, greatest ally of Thanos.
....huh. My (waning) disdain for Quill aside, it could lead to some interesting drama....but then again, I don't want Sam or (especially) Richard to get shafter either.
Not that Quill became a Nova in the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series (or rather, put on the Nova helmet) along with the rest of his team, so there's a precedent.
Edit:
That is an interesting idea. As for more teams in space, I'm pretty sure Nick Fury's got the same idea, so again, there's a precedent.

One Strip! One Strip!Considering everything else reputed to be lined up for gotg 3, there may not be room for any substantive Nova content
Forever liveblogging the AvengersPerhaps some variation on the first idea - the Corps are presented as they are now, and then Dick Rider or Sam are presented as trying to rebuild somehow?
Even without those two, I can see some potential for a villain who was a regular soldier before the Corps got wrecked who survived by a stroke of luck, possibly being a Well-Intentioned Extremist by dint of believing that the previous Nova Corps was too weak and trying to rebuild it as more of a private military instead of “space police”. Or maybe I’m tripping, you decide.

So, let's hang an anchor from the sun... also my TumblrMan, I wonder what a live action MCU Ironheart would look like...
Rafael Grassetti, (who drew this hypothetical MCU!Nova piece
): Hold my beer.
First off: The Ironheart armor needs to be pink, and the arc reactor needs to be over the heart, same as the comic. These were deliberate choices to help make her visually distinct.
Second off: I'm 90% sure Skai Jackson is literally the base for Riri's design. So yeah. Her. 1000000% percent.
My various fanfics.Yeah, that's the Ironheart armor. The first one was basically just an Iron Man armor but smaller. And with small eyeholes.
My various fanfics. It’s awkward phrasing that doesn’t say if that means they’re not making a Deadpool 3 or just moving forward without Liefeld. But this is not encouraging.

Fine "close to" a traditional hero.
Imagine Thanos starring in a God Of War or similar action game.
