Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

The rumor does say it’s a joint production which would sidestep that issue. But all things considered, I give it as much credence as the rumors of a Disney+ produced Dragon Ball series.
Oy, that would cause the internet to have a collective heart attack, wouldn't it?
As I said, one healthy step forward to solidifying the Disney/Sony deal would be to at least have the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies on Disney+. I'd also suggest adding more Spider-Man cartoons like the memetic 1967 cartoon and the Spectacular Spider-Man series, but having the latter's a pipe dream as it is.
However, it'd probably mean no more Into the Spider-Verse on Netflix, so maybe they don't need to rush that?
Speaking of Into the Spider-Verse, I wonder if Marvel would even entertain the idea of having a scene in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness dedicated to ITSV, if only as a fallback plan in case Sam Raimi having a scene set in the world of his Spider-Man movies doesn't work out.
Either scenario would probably require more haggling with Sony, though...
The sad thing is I could see a Dragon Ball series gaining momentum if the Netflix One Piece ends up being a hit.
Disney as a company lost a ton of money this quarter due to so many factors, their parks being shuttered till 2021 earliest, big movie box offices being delayed, etc. That financial weakness could make the bigwigs a lot more receptive to the idea of coproduction with Sony.
I mean, I remember hearing Disney lost a couple billion or so dollars because of the blasted virus closing virtually everything, but...
I will admit, I did not realize that... It's almost as if the universe is acknowledging Disney's overpowered state and this is an effort to balance things out (as all things should be).
I jest (mostly), but if it leads to Disney and Sony playing nicer with each other, so be it.
Just a guess, but I'm pretty sure a giant company like Disney can weather this better than anyone else. Yeah they're having problems, but everyone else is having more problems.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.Apparently, Thanos stole his plan from a certain hedgehog fighting scientist:
Some of those comparisons are a pretty huge stretch. And poor Shadow is still getting treated as an Edgelord, even though he predates Winter Soldier Bucky....I think.
One Strip! One Strip! If he doesn’t want to be an edgelord he should do something about that Vegeta syndrome of his
Forever liveblogging the Avengers![]()
The thing is, he didn't have a Vegeta syndrome. He used to be a completely different character from Vegeta (not blinded by pride, actually caring for others openly even if he was low-key about it, etc), but Sega decided to turn him into Vegeta, thereby justifying the attitudes of people who thought that was all there was to him.
I feel sorry for the guy for being turned into the very thing his detractors claimed him to be.
One Strip! One Strip!Comparing Iron Man and Thor to Tails and Amy was kind of funny though I think Sam would make more sense as Tails. I guess Black Widow would be the Rouge (Ms. Fanservice spy) and Black Panther would be Blaze (cat-themed Royals Who Actually Do Something from another country/zone).
Does Bucky really count as an edgelord when the guy is only that when he is brainwashed?
Edit: Someone in the video's comment section likened Silver to Dr Strange. Both have mystical powers and didn't get along with their heroes at first and rely on using knowledge of the future/past to save the day.

No, originally he only wanted to destroy Earth and it’s presumably millions or billions of population because of a misremembered conversation
That’s not much better. It’s just a different edge to lord
Anything good Shadow did in SA 2 was fixing a problem he had created in some way

To be fair, he didn't so much misremember as he had his memories of the incident deliberately altered...
....which probably doesn't help the comparisons to Bucky that the video makes.
One Strip! One Strip! For anyone who thinks "lolol, Shadow is an edgelord/uses guns/has an inferiority complex", ask what specific game they're citing to, and how many games he's appeared in since then. 2006 was not the last time Shadow appeared in a main continuity game. It's been 15 years since the one game he used a gun as a fan-requested gameplay element. Hell, Tails uses more guns than Sonic.
Let it GO.
It's like insisting that Rhodey and Banner are still played by Terrence Howard and Edward Norton.
Also:
- Master System =/= Mega Drive
- Steve is fast for a human, but he's not faster than Thor, Iron Man, or Hulk
- The one game where there were 6 Emeralds was prior to Tails, Knuckles, or Amy existing
- Who has ever found Amy to be fanservice? Especially during the Genesis days when she was far more childish.
- Both collection plots have more in common with the Dragon Balls than they do with each other.

I don't think he used weapons in 2006. Only in his self titled game.
I believe he drove vehicles in both however.
One Strip! One Strip!> Both collection plots have more in common with the Dragon Balls than they do with each other.
MacGuffin hunts are overall extremely common in fiction anyway, they're a useful way to give the characters a goal to accomplish

have a listen and have a link to my discord server15 years since the game Shadow the Hedgehog, not 15 years since Sonic 06, which people cite for most of their negative opinions about the series that overlook the 8 main series platformer games since then (and the spinoffs, racing, and party games). This is a lengthy derail, but cliche, outdated and uninformed Sonic series hate is a Berserk Button for me. It's just straight up hating on something because that's supposed to be "cool". If you don't like something anymore, just don't talk about it. Let other people who still enjoy it do so in peace.
The last/only time Shadow used a gun for a game, "The only people who stay dead in comics are Bucky, Jason Todd, and Uncle Ben." was an accurate statement. (Shadow's self-titled game came out the same year as the Winter Soldier story started)

I don't really care about the guns. I just maintain that Shadow's outlived his narrative usefulness. In fact, he did so almost immediately.
The only game post-Sonic Adventure 2 that actually felt like it did anything with Shadow's story was his own solo title (yes, the one with guns). And what that game did was to just repeat Sonic Adventure 2 but add aliens.
That's because Shadow doesn't have much of substance to offer as a character. His story ended in the same game where it began, and it ended pretty dramatically, too. And then he was resurrected by popularity and now he just hangs out, popping up in games to remind the audience of that one time when he had a cool story to tell.
Shadow the Hedgehog is a pretty good example of why, as a writer, you need to be willing to let go of characters when their story concludes. It's better to go out on a high note than to just hang out and do nothing until people get sick of you.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.![]()
That's just plain not true. Shadow is the one recurring anti-hero in the setting (Rouge is a traditional hero, Omega is a mercenary aligned with Rouge and Shadow), and one of the all-around most powerful characters by far. It'd be like writing off Iron Man immediately after Iron Man 3, not keeping in mind his overall role in the setting. The point of a setting and a cast of characters isn't always just "only show up to tell their own story."
But this derail is already long enough.

Rogue is a traditional hero who also steals jewelry on the side, as traditional heroes are known to do
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHey. It works for Robin Hood.
I kinda see what Drake is saying, because the main Sonic game thread had a similar argument about Knuckles (he's supposed to be protecting the Master Emerald, but that particular arc ended in Sonic & Knuckles, barring the Chaos reveal, so why's he still showing up in other games and not doing his job).
That being said, it's a simple matter to come up with new roles for them, but Sega doesn't really bother.
It's like Mr. Worf showing up in Insurrection. He's supposed to be on Deep Space Nine, but he just pops up at the beginning of Insurrection because he's a TNG character first and foremost. They gonna explain it, and they ain't gonna explain why Knuckles is around.
....also, that video forgot that there are 7 emeralds, not 6.
And more importantly (especially since this topic persisting in the wrong thread is kinda my fault)....
I say the next big Marvel arc will be Secret Wars.
One Strip! One Strip! She's also a spy and they tend to be anti-heroes due to the moral ambiguity

I remember I brought the possibility of Disney doing a Spider-Man series back during the whole debacle with Sony last year, and I was told that Disney only has the rights to produce animated shows with Spider-Man. The rights to produce feature films and live-action material is owned by Sony. So if Disney was to make a Spider-Man 2099 show, it'd be a half-hour cartoon series and not live-action.
