Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Would it be really out of the line in a Marvel movie?
I mean, I find the idea unnecessary, yes, but not out of the realm of what Marvel has done, even post-Disney. Most notably, how horny Starlord is. They did a joke in the first Got G that literally Two and a Half-Men had done before (comparing their bedrooms to a Jackson Pollock under uv light).
That's GotG, which seems to have gotten a bit of license to be raunchy because it's an off-beat anti-hero comedy. Black Widow is a much more "serious" character.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Doom will be naked all the time, except for his mask. And Reed. And Johnny. And Ben, in rock form.
Really, the big problem with Sue the first FF movie wasn't just the underwear scene - though... yeah, not great - but the fact that she was written with sexiness in mind pretty much first and foremost, with her actress literally being directed to do pretty much everything the character ever did (including die) as sexily as possible.
The whole thing is just obnoxious, and of the best examples of how badly the Most Writers Are Male effect can undermine attempts to adapt and bring female characters into things like action movies.

I mean, on most current spaceships the entire crew is made up of astronauts. I would assume she'd be an astronaut who just specializes in something different than the other astronaut.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff. The only thing that the 2000s FF movies got right in my opinion, is The Thing. Though they are still better than Fant4stic. Not saying much, but still.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadTo be fair, Sue wasn't much better in the original Fantastic Four comics. Being a Damsel in Distress was pretty much her primary role. It wasn't until later that she Took a Level in Badass.
She was also the Lincoln's Mother of the group
You need a Lincoln's Mother.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI agree that The Thing was great in the Fox FF movies. It helps that his actor was a dedicated fan of the character. I'd not mind see him again in the role, although I agree there is little chance of that (and the fact that he's 20 years older won't help).
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.Granted, Widow's rise out of fanservice was very much a Depending on the Author thing itself. She was just eye candy in Iron Man 2, and only really a step or two above that in the first two Avengers movies.
The Russos were consistently only ones who managed to give her a strong character thus far, and then they fridged her.

A Heroic Sacrifice is not the same as fridging.

Have her get striped to her bra in the public while invisible oh wait. >.>
