Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I hope not, I hate that kind of film.
Unless it's used for a joke, like at the beginning of Spiderman: Homecoming.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.In all fairness, this year would've been a disaster anyhow since many of the potential vendors would've pulled out given the impossible logistics of trying to keep everyone safe from a virus that spreads asymptomatically not to mention having nothing to show due to the production/economic shutdown. It was doomed either way.

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherAlright. I've given Carol shit. I've given Fury shit.
Now. It's time to give Strange shit.
Strange Oh yeah. You're much more of a Thanos.
Thanos I take it The Maw is dead. This day extracts a heavy toll. Still, he accomplished his mission.
Strange You may regret that. He brought you face to face with the master of the mystic arts. (stands) Thanos, I've come to bargain.

Or
Thanos ...where is the Time Stone?
Stark (sitting where Strange should be) On your left.
Thanos (looks left and is run over by Strange driving irresponsibly on Titan)
Stark Yeah we figured Strange was a master of stupid decisions so he'd probably figure out a way to make sure you couldn't snap your fingers, Tinky-Winky.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Peter Quill: How many did you see?
Dr. Strange: Fourteen million six hundred and five.
Tony Stark: How many did we win?
Dr. Strange: ...One.
That was definitely included so they could handwave things like that away as timelines that went badly, somehow.
In fairness to Dr Strange this was the only plan that killed Tony Stark
Big risk, big reward
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI’m sure he’ll kill Quill eventually
Maybe trick him into a collapsing universe
Forever liveblogging the Avengers
Fair enough. But then again, it's a toss up to whether he'll die helping the universe or....well, what happened in Infinity War.
Sure, he's 2-1 for helping versus harming the universe, but when he harms it...again, we get Infnity War.
Strange should really be looking to just Portal Cut him as soon as possible.
One Strip! One Strip! You're all misunderstanding. Strange has no reason to kill Quill. He chose the timeline where Stark died because Stark was rude to him back at the Sanctum.
His next target will be Spider-Man for making fun of his last name and calling it fake.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I do imagine that narrowed it down a lot.
After Strange realized he was dying every time, he probably started looking for futures where he (and everyone else) got resurrected. Then he found one where Thanos and everyone associated with him got killed off for good—which required Tony to sacrifice himself.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.I always figured Strange was going for the ultimate win. Not just Thanos dead, not just this one threat finished, but no threat of this happening somewhere down the line.
Maybe there were a few timelines where could have defeated Thanos beforehand, just a few, but then someone else just did the same thing decades later after they were all dead. Maybe one of his army escaped and came back for revenge later. Maybe Thanos survives, defeated, and waits until everyone is dead to come back. And all those things narrow down the options. Maybe they win, but Earth's heroes remain in disarray and that leads to a worse different disaster later.
In this timeline, Thanos is gone, his army is all gone, the Avengers have never been more unified or had wider authoirty, and most importantly the stones are gone: not scattered or split, but straight up don't exist any more, and so no one can use them ever again.
And all it cost was one Tony Stark.
Yeah. All jokes against Tony aside, that is a huge win.
Sure, it may not seem that way to Pepper and Morgan, but I think even Tony would consider it a huge gain.
Of course, when we say all it cost us was Tony Stark, that means ignoring all the dudes who probably died in the Avenges compound battle, which is likely a lot of people.
One Strip! One Strip!

I just had a fun daydream that the next Marvel movie would be filmed entirely while social distancing.
It'd be hilarious.
More seriously, I wonder if this current era is going to result in an upswing of popularity in found footage film.
