Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

This would be an alternate reality where Thor wasn't around to rescue him in Ragnarok. The Hulk's content to live out the rest of his days as a gladiator when all of a sudden, a meteor crashes into the planet, killing everyone but him. While he's relatively unharmed physically, the radiation causes an early fuse of his and Banner's personalities. Unlike Professor Hulk, this one's much more Hulklike and malevolent. He hitches a ride on a passing spaceship to Earth and wants to go after humanity in general. From there, World War Hulk plays out.
The legend has returned. It would take a lot of tweaking for World War Hulk to begin to make sense
Really, the only way they could have set something like that up was if they had never had to deal with the distribution rights issue and thus could have made solo Hulk movies from the beginning. As long as he was a supporting / team character, they weren't going to be able to set up a "Hulk is ostracized from humanity" story adequately.
Actually the current Teen Titans and Young Justice books both have teenage characters right now.
Also, Hope Pym already had a comic counterpart
before Nadia was created.
Which makes it all the weirder to introduce Nadia as a member of the Bug Family. It’s nowhere near as crowded in the comics as it is in the film.
This is a good thing. They made Civil War work. You have all this space now to do new, fun things with the characters.

If you look at the Bug family, Cassie was doing her thing for years before Nadia came along (and she ended up in a dust up with Eric O’Grady over him being an Ant Man), Hope was a villain, and Janet and Hank had mostly moved from those roles at that point. Here, Cassie hasn’t even gotten started, we just got Janet back, and I hope they don’t sideline well...Hope.
Cassie is clearly going to be the focus of the next Ant Man film, so I’m wondering if you throw Nadia into that, make her In Name Only and more focused on the Black Widow legacy, or just goes full Adaptational Villainy and make her the Red Queen. I would argue 1 does make for a crowded film.

There are ways to adapt any story and any character. Also, World War Hulk was a good idea, but it didn't go far enough — it was more "Hulk fights New York" rather than the actual world, but still.
Nadia van Dyne could be Jan and Hank's first child who was kidnapped by Hydra in an attempt to get the formula for Pym Particles and thought dead — but she was actually frozen like Bucky and brought out to be turned into an assassin, but she rebelled against it and instead learned science and eventually broke out to find her parents. This would maintain most of the original character, while changing some circumstances to make it work.
I hope they confirm Young Avengers.
Potential members and in which series or movie can they be introduced.
- Stature: Ant-man 3
- Wiccan and Speed: Wanda & Vision
- Kate Bishop: Hawkeye
- Enchantress Sylvie: Loki (As a treasonous member.)
- Kid Loki: Thor: Love and Thunder.
- Hulkling: Introduced in the same series or movie.
Rumor has it that Mac Chavez will show up in Doctor Strange 2. Might be a little packed for another origin story considering we know Monica Rambeau is/turns into Spectrum in that film, but if there’s any place in Phase 4 a multiversal hero could appear it’s in a film about the Madness of the Multiverse.
Corrected.

Monica Rambeau isn't showing up in Doctor Strange 2, she's in Wanda Vision.
IIRC the rumor was Wanda Vision would explore Wanda’s reality altering powers which would let her tag along in Multiverse of Madness.
Of course with everything going on, I don’t know if they’ll start directing that in time. They never even formally confirmed if Sam Raimi was taking over directorial duties.
Speaking of Doctor Strange Scott Derrickson put together this PSA poster
.

...Yes they did. Four days ago.
As for Wanda Vision, i believe they're done filming, but not quite done with production as a whole.
Seamus McGarvey, the cinematographer for The Avengers, will be the cinematographer for the (still-untitled) third MCU Spider-Man movie.

I'm sure it's been addressed already, but since Black Widow has been postponed, I wonder if that "attend the premier and meet Scarlett Johansson" contest thing is still on the table.
