Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

In fairness to Steve’s fortitude his thing hasn’t been the need to be in charge
He’s been able to let Thor or Tony or others run the Avengers and let him take a step back from that time to time

Forever liveblogging the AvengersHe is without a doubt the greatest of the X-Men.
Even in an era where Wolverine's hypocrisy & moral weakness started infecting the other X-Men & turning them against him, he never let that stop him & always kept his eye on the ball.
Even when Beast foolishly pulled the O5 from the past just to guilt him, he never gave up.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Oh yeah, that was most definitely annoying. Aaron in particular seems to have some serious hateboner for Scott and wants to blame him for everything bad that ever happened while trying to whitewash Logan.

Like portraying Scott as the badguy for wanting to teach the young Mutants how to fight despite that being the entire point of the X-Men since its inception.
Schism was fucking moronic. Everyone just became asinine hypocrites towards him.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."There was a series of panels I'd seen where the X-Men were walking somewhere, and Magneto pulled Scott aside for a bit of honest conversation, and verbally ripped Scott a new asshole for getting drunk off power and getting Xavier killed, or something like that.
Was that an actual scene, or a fan edited one? I didn't remember where the story was, but I think it was after Phoenix!Scott.
Also amusingly enough the 4 major royal convoluted families of the MU, the House of Summers, the House of Magneto, the Inhuman Royal Family, & the House of Pym are all related through marriage.
So like Ultron is the son of Hank Pym who fathered Vision who married Magneto's daughter Scarlet Witch, whose brother Quicksilver married Crystal the cousin of Black Bolt & had a child with him meanining Magneto's granddaughter is Inhuman royalty & an Inhuman/Mutant hybrid. Then Cyclops whose family includes a space pirate dad, an evil alien overlord brother with a whole host of alternate timeline kids with Jean, her clone, & Emma Frost, has pretty much become the son Magneto always wanted whose other brother Havok was in a major romantic relationship with Magneto's other daughter Polaris.
What this means is..... family barbecue, Scott, Erik, Hank, & Bolt all fighting over who gets to be grillmaster all the while ignoring Ultron trying to kill everyone out of jealously for not having taste-buds or a movable mouth.

I think it's fair to say that X3: The Last Stand, Wolverine Origins, Apocalypse, and Dark Phoenix will suffice as a crash course for Marvel Studios on what NOT to do for an X-Men movie.
And where were we on hypothesizing the road map to the MCU's age of mutants? We know Falcon and Winter Soldier will feature Madripoor to some extent while WandaVision will establish S.W.O.R.D. and Wanda's name of the Scarlet Witch, but anything besides that is a blank apart from rumors and speculations?

@ wanderlustwarrior
You mean this
◊ one?
Genuine.
Though Magneto was obviously also affected a lot by his own emotions there.

Insert game of thrones/Song of ice and fire comparisons here
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverDon't forget every mythological pantheon exists in the Marvel universe, and canonically every primordial mother goddess in every mythology is a different aspect of the same goddess, so every single god in the marvel universe is part of one incredibly tangled family tree and I bet that tree is connected to the Pym-Summers-Maximoff tree in at least a few places.
@Forenperser: Yeah, those were the panels, though I get this weird feeling I'm remembering an edited version of that.
Regarding the families, the trope was on this site was originally named Summers Family Tree for a reason. And even the page image added to the bizarre humor.
But then again, I guess those interconnected families in positions of power are true to life. I just found out one of those senators insider trading for profit off of coronavirus is married to the chairman of the New York Stock Exchange.

In fairness, not wanting kids to be involved such a dangerous life is very reasonable (especially when you take into account how many teenagers in the X-books alone have died).
Too bad Logan didn't stick to his guns and have them live normal lives.

Thanks for ruining that word for us Charlie Sheen.
Edited by windleopard on Mar 20th 2020 at 10:39:49 AM
In 2011, Sheen lost his role on Two and a Half Men after making insulting comments about the show's creator, Chuck Lorre. After this, he made a number of interviews where he referred to himself as a "warlock with tiger blood" and claimed he was "winning". Both of these became memes for quite some time.

I disagree, I found his journey most fascinating. Sure, it was radical, but it didn't come out of nowhere. And it wasn't sudden either, it was the result of years upon years of terrible things happening to both him and his people, as well as growing responsibility.
He was basically the deconstruction of a Big Good. Because you can only shoulder that much responsibility for hundreds of people, in a world that despises you for so long before becoming bitter and disillusioned.
But even then, he took the time to do things like this
◊ for people who needed it.
