Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I can imagine it now, a super wedding, superhero baby showers, superhero babysitter auditions with a cameo by Deadpool that ends in Squirrel Girl being hired, Danny being Dani's Godfather & I believe namesake, & all the funny & heartwarming escapades in Luke & Jess of all people raising a child together all the meanwhile managing their respective detective/mercenary business, it be fun.
That is hilarious.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."![]()
Don't forget the part where their daughter comes back from the future!
Oh, man. Since they have no obstacles now, they should do a plot where like everyone who could come back from the future does.
So not just Danielle Cage, but Bishop, and Cable, Loki and Kang, and I dunno Franklin Richards or something. And they're all trying to avert a completely different disaster, except Kang who's trying to cause one. Confuse everybody!
- Bruce: "Wait, we already did this. Time travel doesn't work that way!"
- Kang, Amid a Council of Kangs: "Nah."

Just imagine the family photo, Luke & Jess holding a baby Dani with Danny making a funny face, Doreen surrounded by squirrel's, & a future adult Captain America Dani raising the shield.
Damn they really do have everything now.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I have a theory about time travel. You see, in Endgame, time travel works by splitting off to various branches, meaning you can't actually change time. But in Loki, we know that the Time Variance Authority shows up and they are like the Time Police, but why do you need Time Police if you can't change time?
Because you can! Agents of SHIELD already did in Season 5 — they just did it without an Infinity Stone, which is what was creating the branches in Endgame. And AOS Season 7 is going to be all about time travel, since apparently Fitz and Simmons's mind clones were able to come up with time travel so the Chronicoms could use it.
So at the end of Season 7, as everyone else goes off to retire (or join SWORD or whatever) Fitz and Simmons realize that they need to make sure nobody else messes with the timeline like the Chronicoms did and they need to be responsible for the time travel since they created it. "We need to create some sort of authority on time travel," Simmons states.
"Yeah," Fitz says. "An authority to stop any time variances."
Boom. There you go.

I can't wait for the Loki show for that reason. I'm sure that's where they're finally going to (try to) give us a stable set of rules for all this.
Though I don't mind if the explanation is that different types of time travel have different rules. Them going "if you time travel like this you can't change the past, but if you time travel like this you can" makes sense to me, as long as the methods are sufficiently different. They should do that with Kang no matter what: have his tech be so advanced he just doesn't have the same restrictions.
One thing I like about Cable in Deadpool is that his name is Nathan Summers meaning his parents are most likely Cyclops & Jean Grey, averting the fear that they would have changed his dad into being Wolverine.
It can be assumed if Cable's parentage is ever outright acknowledged it will be simplified into being the son of regular Jean Grey, not her clone.
Hey the Loki show is the perfect opportunity to reintroduce Cable if they want.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well, she's his biological mom. The people who raised him were still Scott Summers and Jean Grey. Well, their minds which had been thrust a thousand years into the future into different bodies, but it was still them and they raised Cable for, like, ten years. Also, it was their honeymoon.
Look, comics are weird.
What’s funny is that Jean Gray went “my baby now” on Nathan when Madeline was still alive and having an emotional murder breakdown over Jean taking everything from her
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIn fairness, I wouldn't blame movie writers for just saying "screw it," snip out Cyclops/Madelyne equaling Cable, and making it Cyclops/Jean equals Cable.
Heck, if Marvel went through a mass reboot, I wouldn't be surprised if a writer just said "in the future, Cyclops and Jean have a kid named Nathan, who will call himself Cable. I have spoken, end of story."
It’d really simplify things and remove a section of plot where Cyclops. Didn’t come off so well
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAt least Civil War was a rather simple concept that comics screwed up due to too many writers and not enough oversight. This whole mess could be skipped without trouble, and if it wasn't skipped, could be handled in like two lines.
Cable: I dunno, I didn't ask a lot of questions about the sex lives of my parents.
If anything, I want Cyclops to blast Captain America, both literally and verbally.
Or use his favorite frying pan

That could also lead to an Alpha Flight series, since one of Purple Man's kids is a heroine connected with that team.
