Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

People have been assuming reality warping weirdery from what I've seen
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI believe it’s been confirmed that Wanda Vision is a prequel to the Doctor Strange sequel & sets up her apperance/role in that film.

Wanda most likely trapped herself in a Lotus-Eater Machine so the timeframe isn't required to be concrete.
The nature of Wanda's reality warping powers means dead characters showing up isn't a problem. One of the pivotal moments in House of M was Hawkeye (whom she'd previously killed during Avengers Disassembled) showing up to angrily tell Wanda what she'd done to him. And then once reality was restored to normal, Clint was alive again.

But all we've seen Wanda do so far is telekinesis and some level of telepathy / mind control. Giving her the reality warping powers she has in the comics would require some explanation (especially since her powers come from the mind stone, not the reality stone, although the powers granted from the stones don't seem to have a lot of relation with what the stone is supposed to do).
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.I'm speculating that since we'll most likely learn more about Wanda's past & since she'll receive immense character focus, they may hint that she's a Mutant.
And somehow her increasing mutation is actually colliding with her Infinity Stone born powers & revving them up to new levels.
Of course again its just
I've been getting vibes from Wanda Vision that makes me think of the episode of Supernatural when Gabriel trapped Sam and Dean in various tv shows.
As long as it’s not the awful reboot from last year.
The inspiration seems to be single camera sitcoms. Makes me wonder if we’re going to see a parody of a Very Special Episode.
Sounds like the Hawkeye show might be getting back into production; Renner tweeted on his Instagram that he's prepping for it

So we have some set pictures of the Loki show
— don't click if you don't want spoilers. The guy in the gray rainsuit is Owen Wilson and also I think we see Lady Loki.
It also looks like young actress Cailey Fleming
is in the show as "Young Sylvie." In the comics Sylvie Lushton was a human who became the Enchantress (as opposed to the Asgardian Enchantress, Amora) due to Loki.

I still want them to do that story where Loki teamed up with Spider-Man.
◊
Memetic moments aside, that actually does have a plot I think would work in the show even if they don’t put Spidey in it: Loki, being hundreds of years old, has a ton of descendants from times he dipped off to Earth to mingle with mortals, whose bloodlines he semi-keeps track of. One of those long removed descendants becomes the victim of a mystical villain, forcing Loki to team up with people who would normally be his enemies in order to protect them (it being an honor/territory thing rather than an affection thing).

I wonder if they're saving Amora for Thor: Love and Thunder...
EDIT: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is looking to shoot some scenes in Norway.
And if anyone wasn't convinced that Sam Raimi IS doing an MCU movie, The Hollywood Reporter all but confirms it.
We're in the best timeline.

New information
I like the idea of Zemo and Songbird teaming up.

I believe wherever WandaVision is set within the MCU timeline is a major problem—they can't set it after Avengers: Endgame because Vision was Killed Off for Real by that point and obviously wasn't revived for that film's climatic battle. On the other hand, since it's going to be a sitcom, it could also instead be set in an Alternate Continuity, as has been the case for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in its final two seasons.
