Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Fun fact: the Ronin identity is used by several people in the comics...and none of them are Japanese.
- The first was Maya Lopez aka Echo.
- The second was Clint Barton, so MCU Clint being Ronin is from the source material.
- The third was an LMD.
- The fourth was Blade.

Disgusted, but not surprisedIt's the third superhero movie to do a "watch Japanese people die amidst rain and neon signs, so exotic" and at least the prior two had Japanese heroes in the fight too.

Ultimate Marvel Ronin was yet another split personality of Marc Spector aka Moon Knight.
He's the one that got Kingpin arrested by revealing his secret identity to the authorities and accusing Kingpin of having tried to murder him.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI droned about it before but yeah, poor ol' Clint hasn't exactly endeared me to him as a character, and when that's the case with someone who's had around that many different appearances across the movies, it's all the more glaring.
Self-serious autistic trans gal who loves rock/metal and animation with all her heart. (she/her)Does Clint actually use the Ronin alias in the film?
(fun fact: my autocorrect first turned Ronin into Robin, which made me chuckle)
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.Been hearing a lot of that yesterday.
Some guys complained that including Silk might not happen in light of her being associated with Spider-Man (unless Marvel and Sony is willing to share her too). note
Unless they take this time to establish the original members like Gorilla Man, Namora, and Venus?

With the talk of Rogue and the like, here’s a silly question - What would you do with Storm after the Fox Men made her such a background character both actresses were publicly annoyed? Do you not use her or do you lean fully into 90’s Storm where she was a co-leader of the X-Men with her big grandiose speeches?
I'd still use her, black superheros are still few and far between so dropping her would be a huge error of judgement. If they have base her characterisation off a 90s cartoon I'd say do it,at least then it's empowering her compared to the previous films
I really hate how they mangled the characters in the fox movies
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverI'd use her and give her the Morlocks storyline with Callisto. That was one of her big moments and I would love to see it recreated on-screen.
(By the way, the last issue of Marauders had a fun moment when Callisto appears again and offhandedly throw a knife at Storm, who catches it. And Pyro is like, "Wait, you guys just throw knives at each other for fun? No wonder we never beat you.")
> Why would you not use her?
Well,if you feel like you don't really want a diverse xmen team that's one possible reason, another is that your going with an xmen team made up mutants who've never had a focus before so no Storm,Wolverine,Cyclops or Jean

This.
This came up earlier with Mystique, iirc. The question of "lol why would you ever use X character after Y flop" is always easily answered with "because this is a completely different series."
You're more likely to see characters less used for overexposure rather than poor exposure these days - and even then never a core character.

I just wonder if they would stay away from those characters in favor of something else, is all. Way I see it, they can lean into two eras for any potential reboot - The original five, or the All New All Different Team that was mostly part of the 90’s cartoon.
That and admittedly after five or six movies of her doing nothing, seeing a Storm with a character arc going "I CALL UPON THE ARTIC WINDS FROM THE FURTHEST REACHES OF THE EARTH! RENDER THEM HELPLESS IN ENDLESS ICE AND SNOW!” would be quite a difference.
Difficult to say: it all depends on how the MCU sets them up. Imo they would set up the group by introducing the individual characters in minor ways in other characters' movies and shows, then revealing everyone together. But with that approach, the team could end up being thrown together.
Wolverine hasn't really had the same mascot status for a while, so who knows?
