Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

@slimcoder
Word of God is that they based Hela's powers on Gorr's.
Here's an excerpt from an article
covering this:
Gorr the God-Butcher is a character created by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic in the pages of Thor: God of Thunder. Gorr was a mortal alien who came into possession of a powerful weapon called All-Black the Necrosword.
As Winderbaum mentions, All-Black is capable of manifesting itself into various shapes which Gorr then uses to commit serial deicide across the universe. The weapon even allows Gorr to spawn his own minions.
By grafting Gorr’s powers onto Hela, the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the character remains incredibly powerful, but her powers become somewhat more defined.
All-Black's powers aren't specifically shadows. Its power is to manifest constructs made of darkness, mostly in the form of pointy stabby things.

Disgusted, but not surprisedShape-shifting black goo.
Not a surprise it turned out to be related to Venom.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersChristian Bale is an early-bird cameo for Moon Knight. Lady Thor encounters the loon during a wild battle with many werewolves. Because that's what I want to see. Thor and not!Batman fighting a horde of werewolves while rock music goes crazy.
THEN KING VALKYRIE RIDES IN ON A PEGASUS, GAEBOLG IN HAND...

Yeah, but Thanos is a major recurring character in the comics. He's a different kind of big deal.
The Beyonder is an event-based big deal. Like, he's a big deal in the sense that his one story that he's known for is a huge multi-crossover event. But outside of that one event, like, he has a few scant appearances here and there but that's it. Secret War is his thing. He doesn't do a whole lot else.
It'd be like introducing Cul Borson in a Captain America movie to set up Fear Itself. Like. You could, sure. F*ck if I know what you think you're going to do with him, though.
