Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

I also believe that EDITH was never meant to see the light of day or if she was it wasn't until Peter was much MUCH older. Tony had to have built it before IW with the intent of giving it to Peter when he died or when he chose to hang up the armors for good since Peter was now old enough and responsible enough to take on the mantle. But once Peter 'died' in IW and Tony more or less retired he stopped working/fiddling with it.
The question isn't "Why did Tony make EDITH?" it should be "Why did Fury (the real one has shown in the stinger) decide giving it to a 16-17 year old kid was a GOOD idea?"
Which is theoretically better, but the entire film is about how that could still go horribly wrong. Even before he gave control to Mysterio, he almost blew up one of his classmates with a drone.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff. Most likely because he had NO IDEA what EDITH really was, he may have initially thought that EDITH was more powerful version of KAREN and with some 'awareness' that JARVIS, and FRIDAY had.
EDITH was both more powerful and very literal, following orders without question. If told to unleash a 'death drone' on a classmate I'd like think both JARVIS and FRIDAY would have confirmed and clarified the order before following through.
KAREN was also quite literal in understanding Peter's commands, at least at first. And she also was very eager to activate insta-kill mode. Possibly all of Tony's A.I.s are a bit trigger-happy (JARVIS did not hesitate to attack Pepper because she was carrying Extremis). Or, more precisely, his A.I.s are literal when it serves the Rule of Drama or Rule of Funny.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.That’s such a long time from now
We should panic and run around like headless chickens
Forever liveblogging the AvengersChristian Bale as Villain
https://www.cbr.com/thor-love-thunder-christian-bale-alien-marvel-villain/
The most popular theory is that Bale will play Gorr the god Butcher.
The other reason there's no reason to do Gor is because... there's no real conflict. All the Gods except Thor are already dead. We've been introduced to no other Earthly pantheon, no cosmic pantheons, and we've been told flat-out from Thor's first movie that gods aren't real you nerd, magic isn't real, it's just science, shut up, it's the early phase of the MCU and we still have to be grounded.
So, like, what's Gor gonna do? Kick Thor in his gunt while he's already down?
My various fanfics.Maybe he'll play Mephisto? He's battled Thor before. Just keep him away from Spider-Man and you're good.
But part of the conflict and what makes Gorr interesting is the philosophical/moral end of the debate. Is Gorr right? Are all the Gods bad? Despite all the good that Thor himself has done, would the universe as a whole be better off if all the Gods were gone?
But in the MCU it doesn't matter, because the Gods- or rather literally only the Asgardians, that's all we've ever seen and probably all we'll ever see- never seemed to do anything except jerk off in the nine realms. They seem to have done very little of cosmic relevance or importance to have ruined or improved anyone's lives, so the question has already been answered. The MCU clearly is better off without gods, because there's nothing to suggest that things have gotten worse now that they're all gone.
My various fanfics.Yeah, I can't see a lot of value in introducing Gorr now.
I also can't see a lot of value in Bale playing the Beyonder, as was suggested earlier in the thread, but for different reasons. Like, the Beyonder's kind of a big deal? It'd be difficult to compress Secret War to the scope of one superhero's solo film.
I mean, they did it with Civil War but we all knew going in that Civil War was really Avengers 2.5. Nothing about Love and Thunder has given the same implication.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Reminder that Thor’s immediate family is apparently the only Gods on Asgard.
No Baldur, Tyr, Ullr, Sol, Skadi, Freya (unless she’s already mentioned to have died during Hela’s extermination of the Valkyries)........... Of course I’m listing these all from Smite but you get my point.

But Hela didn’t use shadow powers. She just summons a lot of pointy stubby things.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."

Drones and master AI do not go together. It just goes really badly.
