Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This pinned post is here to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules
still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread
. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed without spoiler tagging for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.
If you're posting tagged spoilers, make sure that the film or series is clearly identified outside the spoiler tagging. People need to know what will be spoiled before they choose to read the post.

Loki working for the Time Variance Authority? If that does not get me at least a couple of Doctor Who shout-outs, I will be disappointed.
Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.@ windleopard Not being there participating in a fight against whoever is attacking whatever city/country again this day of the week (aka Tuesday) is a little different than failing to consistently standing up against systematic racism and persecution in my opinion.
Also, the X-Men aren't that isolated, especially in recent years they've constantly crossed over with other titles.
Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianI agree that the lack of help from other heroes stems more from a meta thing (keeping the X-men in their own bubble, which is apparently Chris Claremont’s fault) and that it’s unfair to hold that against them.
Because it makes zero sense for Captain America to do nothing about Mutant rights.
Marvel should have just said they team up with the X-men all the time off screen and do all they can, and we just don’t see it.
One Strip! One Strip! They know that it exists because the Avengers have been protested for having mutant members and told the protestors to go fuck themselves
Also they’ve tangled with sentinels a few times
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSentinels...I still want to see what the MCU does with them.
As for the X-Men, while one could argue the endless persistence of hatred and bigotry is how it works in real life, in terms of the story constantly resetting to the world fearing and hating them (and don’t act like the most recent story won’t end with the mutant nation destroyed and everything back to Square 1) it’s hard for an audience to stay invested.
This is probably why the kids that, if they were in the 90’s would have read X-Men comics and watched the cartoon, are now watching My Hero Academia.
There's some speculation that the Ms. Marvel Disney+ series could tie into Captain Marvel 2
since the actor they are casting for Kamala needs to be available for filming longer than it would take to film the show.
Drones? Each one remote controlled back at base?
Probably not very satisfying for people who like AI uprising gone horribly right Sentinels
Forever liveblogging the Avengers"Tony Stark dreamt of putting a suit of armor around the world. At Trask Industries, we're here to make his dream a reality. Our designs will ensure that no one ever need fear the likes of Thanos, Loki, and Charles Xavier ever again. Trask Industries: privatizing world peace to build a safer world."

I'm glad that it looks like Loki is going to clear up the time travel trouble.
